PUBLICIST DENIES HEATH LEDGER'S DRUGS

Hollywood star Heath Ledger's publicist is speaking out against rumors of the late actor's alleged drug use, branding the claims "heinous lies." Mara Buxbaum, who worked for the star before his sudden death, insists the "Brokeback Mountain" actor was never addicted to hard drugs and is outraged at the media speculation surrounding the 28-year-old's horrible death. Video footage of Ledger partying with two strangers at a Hollywood drugs party was aired in the U.S. on Wednesday, and although the scenes don't show the late star indulging in any illegal activities, the TV shows involved have decided against broadcasting any more of the tape out of respect for Ledger's family. Several gossip Web sites have also reported claims that Ledger's fiancee, Michelle Williams, ended their relationship over an alleged drug habit. But Buxbaum is eager to say the rumors are not true. Buxbaum tells New York Daily News, "(The story is) fabricated ... just one lie among many. The speculation is heinous." Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment on January 22. An autopsy failed to reveal how he died, although police believe his death could be drug-related as five different bottles of prescription drugs were found around his apartment.

Heath Ledger's death is a tragedy caused at least in part by the prescription drug epidemic that is taking people from us in increasing numbers.

All of us agree that when drugs are ruining your life you need to make a change.

As the director of Novus Medical Detox, I would suggest that many people never make it to rehab because they have tried to stop and the withdrawal pain was too great. This is why 95% of the people that try on their own don't make it. They fear the withdrawal more than the problem.

Some people's DNA and metabolism does make them more susceptible to dependence and addiction and either way the withdrawal is painful.

We now have protocols that make it much more comfortable and once off the drugs/alcohol, then they will be thinking more clearly and have a better chance in rehab.

The decision to change their lives must be made for any rehab to work. However, Heath Ledger might have been delaying because of his fear of withdrawal.

I have been so saddened by his earthly departure. I was so shocked, cried for a couple of days, and got a couple of movies. The kids enjoy so much "A Knight's Tale" is amazing. I keep telling them that I will take them to Medieval Times so they can have fun and see the jousting.

I have been taking several prescription drugs, and at one point I was overmedicated and I didn't know (I was not aware of it). Family said it looked like the sparkle I had was gone, I just sat on the couch and said nothing, feeling tired and sleepy all the time. When I got severely ill and hospitalized the staff at the ER said, "How in the world could she be standing up and walking?" Now I have been taking another direction b/c the psychiatrist was "retired" and "ill" so I have been getting better and better. My goal is to be on only 1 prescription drug for seizures which is inevitable. I so wish this was a mistake and Heath is alive and okay but I have to come to terms with this, part of the problem is that nobody has published that he has been laid to rest (which I believe happened way sooner than people think).
