MAD MEN'S MATTHEW WEINER ON FAME & SUCCESS

Image
**** THE SATURDAY EVENING POST INTERVIEW ****

Matthew Weiner

Matt Weiner knows how to appreciate success. He dealt with rejection for years as a struggling writer until he got his big break writing for “The Sopranos.” Along the way he began writing the pilot for the show that made his career, “Mad Men.” Just in time for the season premiere on Sunday, April 7, The Saturday Evening Post contributor Jeanne Wolfe sits down with Weiner to discuss his fame, inspirations, and the rise of “Mad Men.” The complete interview is available at HERE.

On Weiner’s notorious secrecy about the “Mad Men” plot: “I’m not trying to tease people. I just don’t want to give away to viewers what’s coming because not knowing what is going to happen is part of what keeps people interested. At the beginning of a season I’m always like, ‘I’m starting a whole new story. If you don’t like it, then it’s not for you. But it’s not because it’s not as good as last year. It’s just different.’ No matter what happens you’ll be a…

HISTORY CHANNEL'S RECORD BREAKING THE BIBLE

**** THE GLORIOUS CORNER
By G.H. Harding  ****

Mark Burnett

HOT JESUS --- Tonight concludes the record breaking miniseries of the History Channel's, The Bible. Produced by reality-show kingpin Mark Burnett, and wife, Roma Downey, it updates perhaps the greatest story ever told. Some 12 million viewers watched the first two Sunday episodes, immediately setting a significant cable-TV record for the channel and provoking a dialogue unlike most other cable-minis series produce. Many of the theories put forth commented on the fact that Burnett/Downey had commissioned original contemporary music produced for the epic series, thus giving it a modern feel. A commentary in the Dessert News produced the quote: "Faith-based programming is entirely absent from network television, and movies that don’t treat religious people as hypocrites or human punch lines seem to rarely make their way into the local cinema.” The actor who portrays Jesus, Diego Merged, has become something of a cause celebr…

ED SHEERAN & TAYLOR SWIFT HIT NEW JERSEY

Taylor Swift

Ed Sheeran And Alana Galloway

Ed Sheeran opened for Taylor Swift, performing for over 13,000 screaming fans at New Jersey's Prudential Center. The 22-year-old British sensation brought his 'A Game' to the concert. He opened with 'Give Me Love' and proceeded to sing several other songs including 'A Team', 'Drunk', and 'Lego House'. Ed Sheeran and his guitar captivated the crowd of shrieking fans. Sheeran and Swift performed Taylor's hit duet 'Everything Has Changed' up close to the audience. We were grateful to meet Ed. He's very sincere, humble and has a great sense of humor.

After seeing the concert, I can honestly say I understand why Taylor's Red album has sold 1 million copies. Having witnessed Swift in concert before, I can say that she has grown tremendously as a performer. She spared nothing and satisfied the audience song after song with style and grace. Whether playing a 6-string or 12-…

I am a Groupon Hooker. Complete whore. From Living Social to Amazon Local to KGB Deals, Guilt City, Bloomspot, Travel Zoo and many others; including the mother ship herself- Groupon. Y’all I’m bat shit crazy over livin’ life via’ these sites and their daily deals.
You can jump from an airplane or learn to fly the airplane from which you just jumped. Get certified to scuba dive or spend a day at an amusement park. Take a sunset horseback ride or take a course in couples massage. There are adventures to bowl and boat and travel and spa and eat at tons of top (and not so top) places. Get a chiropractor. Or an acupuncturist. Or a dentist. Or just white teeth. Grab a TV or a food processor. You can spend a month in boot camp, and cross fit, and a boxing ring.
And I eat this shit up. I’ve gotten certified, flown, jumped, traveled, boated, fished, rode, safaried, boxed, Botoxed, massaged, eaten and drank. Not only are these …

Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox is on the April/May cover of AARP The Magazine! The beloved entertainer speaks candidly about his battle with Parkinson’s disease, his new NBC comedy sitcom premiering this fall and his supportive family

Interview Quotes

On writing Parkinson’s into his character roles

“It’s too difficult to hide it. I could manage it for a scene or so, but it would fall apart over time. As long as I play a guy with Parkinson’s, I can do anything.”

On early fame and appreciating success

“By 21, I was earning six figures a week, and by 23, I had a Ferrari. It was nuts. I never stopped to figure that out.”

“You’re not just a lottery winner. You have to respect the work you do and the work others do and how you got there.”

Wigs and hair extensions have a time-honored role on the stage and on set. They remain the fastest way for actors and actresses to alter their appearance or transform characters, going from short to long—or fine to thick—overnight. But too often, in the past they looked like wigs, didn’t blend well with the natural hair or could not withstand the daily rigors of styling and re-styling.

That’s all changed with the advent of Angelo David Couture Hair Extensions and Additions, a collection of customizable, human-hair extensions that reflect the uniqueness of each wearer—or his or her persona of the moment. Pioneered by celebrity stylist Angelo David, who is known as the “Vera Wang of Hair Extensions,” they were initially created to solve any hair challenge—be it not enough length, an undesirable color, lack of styling control, the need for volume, the desire for bangs, or even t…

MEDICAL MARIJUANA INTRODUCED IN NEW YORK

Image
**** NEW YORK STATE NEWS ****
Richard N. Gottfried

Patients suffering from severe debilitating or life-threatening conditions could be treated with medical marijuana under medical supervision under a bill introduced by key legislators today. Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have laws that allow medical use of marijuana. New York's bill A. 6357/ S. 4406, introduced by Assembly Health Committee Chair Richard N. Gottfried and Senator Diane J. Savino, is co-sponsored by 68 other legislators. The bill passed the Assembly by a vote of 91-52 last year.

"If the patient and physician agree that the patient's severe debilitating or life-threatening condition should be treated with medical marijuana, the government should not stand in the way," said Gottfried. "It is cruel to deny treatment to patients who are suffering or to turn them into criminals."

"Thousands of New Yorkers have serious medical conditions that would benefit from medical use of marijuan…

(Both Cassidy and Marand received Tony nominations for their performances.) Superman features the songs “You’ve Got Possibilities,” “You’ve Got What I Need,” and “The Woman for The Man.”
