SONGWRITER ATAIA RELEASES FIRST SINGLE 'FINE'

Image
ATAIA

Some people are born knowing what they must do. Ataia is one of them.

ATAIA, the daughter of John Lennon’s guitarist releases her first single “FINE”.

Singer, songwriter, actress, born in Nyack, NY, Ataia grew up in Germantown, MD, Argentina, and Nashville, TN. “I have been writing songs and singing all of my life.  I spent a lot of time in the studio with my dad, writing and singing, and playing whatever instrument he handed to me that wasn’t TOO big for me.”

ATAIA lost her Dad in 2010 to a rare disease and then three years later lost her beloved brother to suicide. These deep personal losses affected her deeply. Her desire to bring "hope to others" and to encourage others to "ask for help" is the message she wants to relay through music.

““I choose to take my pain and bring hope to others. It is okay to be okay, or not be okay. It is not okay to check out! I want to take whatever action I can to help prevent suffering,” said ATAIA.

She knows she has someth…

CYNTHIA NIXON CALLS TO ABOLISH ICE ON THE VIEW

Image
Cynthia Nixon On The View

New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon weighs in on Trump signing an executive order to keep migrant families together: "I am glad he has signed this executive order against himself, protecting them from him. I wish he would sign some more executive orders protecting us from him."

She calls to abolish ICE, saying the federal agency has "strayed so far from the interests of the American people and the interests of humanity — we need to abolish it."

She reacts the press' difficulties getting access to child detention centers, and compares it to coverage of the Vietnam War: "When you show people what's really happening, and the brutality and the injustice ... it's very hard to defend this kind of a policy."

"The problems that we have start at the top," she says of why she's running for governor, and discusses taking on Gov. Andrew Cuomo. "We're a Democratic state here ... but we've got …

MADONNA'S LOVE LETTER TO WOMAN NYC AUCTION

NYC-based online celebrity auction house GottaHaveRockandRoll.com will be hosting The Rock and Roll Pop Culture Auction from July 11-20, 2018.

One of the featured items in this auction is a never-before-seen handwritten love letter from Madonna to another woman, Amanda Cazalet, who appeared in her steamy 1990 "Justify My Love" music video, which was banned from MTV for sexual explicitness. In the letter, Madonna writes, "I know you are married and pregnant and I cannot explain my attraction - nevertheless it's there." And goes on to say, "getting in touch with you is like trying to seduce the pope."

NEW YORK CITY MOVES FAST ON SIPPING STRAWS

Image
You Give a Sip, and they're listening!

NYC is moving fast on a bill to get rid of single-use plastic straws and stirrers in food service establishments throughout the city. This is great news for turtles, fish, birds, and other marine wildlife. Some very important decisions on this issue will take place at an upcoming New York City Council committee hearing. This Thursday, 6/21 at 11:45 AM, join us on the steps of NYC City Hall for a Rally to Ban Plastic Straws prior to the hearing — we need to up the momentum! Use the City Hall Park entrance on Broadway and Park Place. And don’t forget: tell your City Council member: protect our waters from plastic pollution and support a ban on single-use plastics straws!

New York City Council Member Rafael L. Espinal, Jr. has just proposed a bill to get rid of single-use plastic straws and beverage stirrers in food service establishments in the city.

We need to do our part to push this important bill forward on behalf of fish and turtles, whal…

HUNTERS POINT SOUTH CONSERVANCY TRASHES PARK

Image
**** AGAIN ! ****

I am not going to get into a long drawn out story on The Hunters Point Conservancy. I and other residents are really upset at the way they treat our parks during and after one of their events.

First of all, most of us do enjoy Movie Night in the park. It is relaxing. But the rules and regulations of getting a permit for a event like this require a clean up crew after the event. Now I was in the park. I saw members of the Conservancy. Some brought their own wine, a violation of park rules. They then sat in the restaurant area drank free alcohol from the Owner Of LIC Landing.  Thats fine, it's one of their perks being part of the Conservancy. I get it.

Here is the rule--(p) Permittees are responsible for cleaning and restoring the site after the event. The cost of any employee overtime incurred because of a permittee's failure to clean
and/or restore the site following the event will be borne by the permittee.

All of this is fine with me, they could sit in the pa…
