DANCERS OVER 40 TRIBUTE TO THEATER IMPRESARIO DAVID MERRICK @ ST LUKES

Dancers Over 40 will welcome a bushel full of performers, surprise guests and a gaggle of… wandering dancers from every discipline for a tribute to theatre impresario David Merrick on Monday, April 29, 7pm at St. Luke’s Theater, 308 West 46th Street in NYC. Compiled and staged by DO40 member Karin Baker, there will be panels and performances covering Merrick’s biggest hits – AND his historic flops! Scheduled to appear are cast members from Mata Hari, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and How Now, Dow Jones! as well as 42nd Street, Carnival, Mack and Mabel, Sugar, Promises, Promises, Do-Re-Mi, Hello, Dolly!, Gypsy, Very Good Eddie and his last-produced show, State Fair – all represented on stage. Merrick worked with almost all of the great directors and choreographers of the 20th Century, including the greats that DO40 featured in separate panels and performances over the past 10 years: Agnes de Mille, Jack Cole, Gower Champion, Michael Bennett, Jerome Robbins and Michael Kidd.

WOMAN'S HEADSTONE FOUND IN PLANTER ON NYC WEST SIDE

HEADSTONE FOUND IN PLANTER

CBS New York – Police are asking for the public’s help to find out how a woman’s headstone ended up in a planter on Manhattan’s west side.
A pedestrian reportedly found it last week on 12th Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets.
The stone belonging to Rose Roy Weiss states that she died in 1986 and was a mother and grandmother.
Authorities believe she may have been from Florida. The person who made the discovery is now hoping to find the woman’s family.
Anyone with information about the headstone is asked to call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. You can also submit a tip via the Crime Stoppers website.

TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP EXCLUSIVE: The Samaritans is a new thriller from Viva Pictures being released on digital and on demand April 16 2019 and that date can’t come soon enough. It is a rare movie where the “making of” story is as intriguing as its polished finished product. It is not hyperbole to put The Samaritans on the same list as other micro-budget success stories, Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, two other independent horror/thrillers that transcended their limitations while leaving an indelible mark on the genre.
Simply put, this creepy thriller is based on a premise that brings four co-workers together for the first time to complete work on a new app. The quirky quartet apparently has only collaborated online so their face-to-face meeting seems to carry some additional weight. They quickly complete their task and celebrate their “Spin-the-Bottle” for the smart phone era with a toast that leads directly to each of them …

Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff was honored along with other prominent New Yorkers at the National Action Network's 23rd Annual Women of Excellence/ Man of Vision Luncheon at the Astoria World Manor in Astoria, Queens. Ms. Shafiroff was honored for her outstanding service & dedicated commitment in philanthropy. Other honorees included the Honorable Machelle Sweeting, Dr. Cynthia Ashley and Korey Wise. Audrey Smaltz served as emcee. The event attracted close to 200 notable New Yorkers.
