MURRAY HILL WINES GOES TO THE DOGS

Tony Noto With Betrice From Surrrotica And Robert Bernard TONY NOTO's Murray Hill Wines at 34th and Third went to the dogs today, with a small reception for a new product called GOOD BOY CABERNET ... from Les Compagnons Wines. Each bottle sold, and there were at least 25 or so moved, a percentage is donated to two of NY's premiere Animal Charities ... THE TOBY PROJECT and SAVE ANIMALS IN VETERINARY EMERGENCY. The former, rescues strays and attempts to find them proper homes, while the latter deals with all emergencies that our four-footed-friends can come into contact with. Noto, a dog owner himself, jumped at the opportunity to bring some much need visibility to these two charities. Celebrity-writer MARK BEGO (whose newest opus MACHO MAN is out next week via Greenwood Press) and ROBERT BERNARD, the producer and creator of Surrotica also attended the fete. TONY NOTO OPENS MURRAY HILL WINES

It's always interesting when people who have made their mark in the entertainment business go into the food business. TONY NOTO, who's father Lore Noto created the original production of THE FANTASTICKS ... which ran for 42 years at the famed Sullivan Street Theatre. When the play closed, Noto wrote a book, THE STOKER FILE, which went onto becoming a best seller and won several awards and wrote another play BALD EAGLES, which is being readied for a stage production. But, now, he's opened MURRAY HILL WINES in NYC, at the intersection of 34th and Third (516 Third Avenue). "To tell you the truth, running a store like this is very much like running a stage show. The hours are about the same and the pay is just a bit better." Turns out, Noto, long a frenzied collector of fine food and fine wine, had imagined a scenario like this for years. Tony Noto with May Pang and Chris Gilman The PALM WEST here in NY hosted a reception for TONY NOTO and his first-book THE STOKER FILE: THE LOST DIARY OF BRAM STOKER. Noto, the song of legendary-off Broadway impresario LORE NOTO (who created the original production of THE FANTASTICKS), was greeted by family and friends in the media, including PLAYBILL's HARRY HAUN; music's MAY PANG; NEW YORK TIMES' KEITH GIRARD; author-MARC ELIOT; ace-lensman AUBREY REUBEN; his wife ELAINE; circus-man BELLO; and, of course the restaurant's GM CHRIS GILMAN. Noto, who's in the middle of a radio Tour for the book (yes, the Pasha David Salidor's hand is at work here too) , is on WOR's JOEY REYNOLDS SHOW next week and several cable outlets in the weeks to come. TONY NOTO AND THE STOKER FILE

TONY NOTO, son of legendary THE FANTASTICKS-producer LORE NOTO, has issued his first novel, THE STOKER FILE -- the first new work from DRACULA-author BRAM STOKER in 100 years. The books tells after a devastating flood, a lost diary by BRAM STOKER is recovered in a basement at the University of Budapest, a series of mysterious events unfold that place all that read the text in great danger.A convening a very select and top secret committee at Columbia University, researchers are tasked to prove the diary's authenticity. As the diary's secrets unfold, those involved begin to suffer untimely deaths. Only one person, Laura Olsen Wynne, takes flight, fully aware of the diary's true implications. Desperately, she tries to contact those she knows she can save, as they know the diary's true meaning and why such dark forces would want to suppress it.
