TONY NOTO OPENS MURRAY HILL WINES

It's always interesting when people who have made their mark in the entertainment business go into the food business. TONY NOTO, who's father Lore Noto created the original production of THE FANTASTICKS ... which ran for 42 years at the famed Sullivan Street Theatre. When the play closed, Noto wrote a book, THE STOKER FILE, which went onto becoming a best seller and won several awards and wrote another play BALD EAGLES, which is being readied for a stage production. But, now, he's opened MURRAY HILL WINES in NYC, at the intersection of 34th and Third (516 Third Avenue). "To tell you the truth, running a store like this is very much like running a stage show. The hours are about the same and the pay is just a bit better." Turns out, Noto, long a frenzied collector of fine food and fine wine, had imagined a scenario like this for years. "When we found the spot ... this idea just came quickly to fruition. We've partnered with MOCO sushi right next door for a series of summer events, the first one being June 3." Expected are Noto's comrades from the Broadway-scene. "I've always had tremendous support from the Broadway community and many of them have been our best customers."
