**** THE WEB GOSSIP **** Lorne Michaels VERY CARREY SATURDAY – Jim Carrey’s stint as host of the weekend’s Saturday Night Live was not only hilarious; but, it delivered the best rating for the show since the terrific Betty White/Jay Z episode last year on May 8th. Don’t get me wrong, I love SNL … but, it has been on for 36 years, and the last few years have proven somewhat maddening in the talent selections. Svengali-Lorne Michaels’ war horse goes on and on; although in recent years his choices of hosts and acts has become somewhat problematic; at issue is the fact that what he liked when the show began all those years ago ... does it really jibe with what he chooses now? - Always a dicey issue for sure. Carrey’s opening was terrific, especially when he seemingly approached a random female in the audience … and, proposed to her. Jim Carrey Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey have broken up after a five-year romance. Jim announced the news via a post on his Twitter.com blog . He wrote, "Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I'm grateful 4 the many blessings we've shared and I wish her the very best!" Jenny then took to her Twitter.com account to tell her fans the former couple will remain close friends, stating, "Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together... (I) will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart." Jim Carrey Hollywood funnyman Jim Carrey is going to be a grandfather for the first time. His only daughter Jane is expecting a baby. The movie comic shocked onlookers on a Californian beach earlier this year when he donned McCarthy’s sexy black swimming costume during celebrations for Independence Day. Jim Carrey Hollywood star Jim Carrey wowed the American idol cast live on Wednesday by dressing up as an elephant and then joining the nervous wannabes onstage as they awaited their fate on results night. Carrey was promoting his new movie Horton Hears A Who?, in which he voices a curious elephant, and joked he sometimes finds it hard to shake a character he plays. He added, "I’ve lost a lot of weight." Carrey then pretended to be among those fighting for survival on the hit talent show, sitting among the 12 finalists and nervously regretting a fictional song choice.

Campaigners were overheard shouting the message of the film, an adaptation of the 1954 Dr Seuss story, which is based on the motto: "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small." After chanting, the group put red tape labelled with the word "life" over their mouths and proceeded to parade around the Mann Village Theater, where the film’s stars Steve Carell and Jim Carrey were in attendance, reports TMZ.
