The Story
My film will be a fantastical, psychological journey following the story of a girl who has the ability to view segments of an alternate plane of existence after a near-death experience. Water turns to blood, strange shadows crawl across the ground and it's almost impossible to distinguish day from night. She tries to function while the two worlds merge around her, and a charismatic demon that only she can see wants to convince her to make a full and permanent transition to 'the other side.'
About Darian Brenner
My name is Darian Brenner and I'm a senior at Rhode Island School of Design studying film/video. I really want to make this movie for its deeper meaning--at the core, this project is about being forced to adapt to sudden and unfair changes. This past summer I lost my mom and my life has since been completely flipped upside-down. My goal in making this film is to have some catharsis dealing with my new situation and create something beautiful and compelling, that my mom would have liked and that anyone who has experienced any devastating change can relate to.

The money that I raise on Kickstarter will go towards equipment/space rental, costume & prop materials, transportation for my actors and crew, permits, catering, harddrives, and other miscellaneous expenses, hopefully including having exotic animals on set (!!!)
If you are new to Kickstarter's system, it's important to know that if I don't reach my minimum goal before my deadline, I won't receive any of the funding and no one's credit cards will be charged. If I do reach my minimum goal (and I sure hope I do!!!) or even surpass it, still no one's cards will be charged until the deadline. So when you pledge money to my project, you are pledging that your card will be charged on my deadline given that I reach my minimum goal. I hope that makes sense!

James Edstrom's Note: I have only met Darian Brenner a few times since she was a baby, I am sure she does not even remember me. He mother Claire O'Connor, who recently passed away, was a very good friend for many years. Claire was there when I started in this business almost 30 years ago. Claire was one of the top Public Relations icons in New York City and she was a true and loyal friend.
Even know Darian does not know much about me, I know all about her. Her mother used to tell me all about her. She would talk about her school, she would talk about her projects. She was so proud of Darian. I think she saw a lot of herself in her. Claire was the kind of person that no one could hold back. There were never any reasons why something could not be done, she always found a way. When Claire talked about Darian and one of her projects, no matter how big the obstacles were, Claire would say Darian would figure it out and she always did.
I could go on and on, but I would love it if some of my readers would take a look at Darian's KICKSTARTER page and maybe help out. I am sure we are looking at a future superstar in the entertainment business.
