****
MOVIE AUCTIONS
****

Ryan Gosling

One of this spring's most highly anticipated movie releases, The Place Beyond the Pines, starring Academy Award nominees Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, and Eva Mendes, will have an original object from the production auctioned off online to benefit Variety - The Children's Charity of Southern California. The auction item is a red leather motorcycle jacket, as seen on Mr. Gosling in the film as part of his portrayal of high-wire motorcycle stunt performer Luke.

The auction will be hosted by Profiles in History at www.profilesinhistory.com, starting Friday, March 29th, which is also the day that Focus Features releases the Derek Cianfrance-directed movie in exclusive engagements in New York City, at Landmark Theatres' Sunshine Cinema and AMC Theatres' Lincoln Square, and Los Angeles, at Landmark Theatres' The Landmark and the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. The ArcLight Cinemas is currently displaying the actual jacket on-site, until Friday, April 5th. The auction will end Monday, April 8th. Proceeds from the auction will go to help inspire hope, enrich lives and build a better future for children with special needs in Southern California.

The jacket (pictured above on Mr. Gosling in-character in a scene from the film) is a Firstgear red leather motorcycle jacket with snap pockets at the front, black corduroy at the collar, zipper vents at both front and back with black leather in the vent, elastic at both cuffs and bottom, and zips to close. The lining from the auction item has been removed because of wear from extensive location filming of sequences in which Luke rides on his motorcycle.

ROLLING STONE INTERVIEW ON JAMES BROWN

****
Rolling Stone Editor Interviews Brian Grazer
On The Legend James Brown
****

Mick Jagger

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, editor David Browne sat down with renowned producer Brian Grazer on co-producing a James Brown biopic with Mick Jagger and that the project is set to begin casting soon!

Grazer, whose credits range from Apollo 13 to 8 Mile, has been trying to make the movie since the late Nineties, when Spike Lee's name was initially attached as director. According to Deanna Brown-Thomas, one of Brown's seven children, her father was intrigued but wary of any movie based on his life, especially since it would dramatize his troubled life and drug problems. After Brown's death in 2006, the project floundered, but it's back up and running now that most of the legal wrangling over Brown's property and finances has been worked out.

With the rights to Brown's music now sewn up, Grazer and a new co-producer – none other than longtime Brown fan Mick Jagger – have revived the biopic. The film's original script, written by British playwrights and brothers Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, is being revised, and casting will soon begin. For the first time since the project was reinvigorated, Grazer talks about how he won, lost and regained the rights, Jagger's role, and the controversial recent decision to hire director Tate Taylor, director of The Help, instead of Lee.

Hope Davis

Principal photography has begun on “After the Fall,” a forthcoming film based on the inspiring true story of John and Brenda Fareri, who found solace after the death of their young daughter Maria, by building the world class Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.

The film, starring David Duchovny and Hope Davis, and Timothy Hutton, written by Carroll Cartwright (“What Maisie Knew”) , directed by Anthony Fabian (“Skin”), and produced by Anthony Mastromauro’s Identity Films, is currently shooting on location in Connecticut.

After Maria died, the Fareris learned that their daughter had made a special wish "for the health and well-being of all the children in the world," as part of a school project. With Maria’s spirit guiding them, her parents, family and 20,000 other members of the community worked together to create a state of the art children's hospital, making Maria’s wish a reality. Today, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is a place where families are welcomed into the healing process as partners with the staff in the care of their loved ones. This hospital, inspired by Maria’s wish for children’s global health and well-being, not only keeps Maria’s memory alive, but has also gone on to help thousands of children and their families, while becoming the template for future children’s hospitals.

THE REAL MAGIC BEHIND THE LIMELIGHT CLUB

****
THIS AND THAT

Bitching By: James Edstrom
****

The Famed Limelight Nightclub

You know, it is amazing that these movie companies do these movies and do not even try to speak to the key players.

Today someone posted a comment on Facebook about the Limelight movie and I can only say I am in shock that no one from this movie company, Magnolia Pictures even contacted me.

I was there almost every night. I was in the VIP room with the stars. I watched the stars of today go into the back room for gay sex and I watched as the cocaine flowed right on the table in front of me. I watched certain stars who claim to be straight on there knees in the back sex room behind the VIP area, drugged out and more gay than I ever could be.

What is it with these producers that do not do their research. I took thousands of photos of every star there, every magical party and I supplied all the newspapers and magazines. I am the one that tipped off Musto about the Alig murder ( Though he would never admit that today). I was right there with John Carmen and Fred Rothbell Mista almost every night, and yes I was ripped out of my mind too. I planned every photo op with Claire O'Connor, and many nights I could not make it home and slept there. What a horror it was waking up the next day and walking out the back door and the sunlight ripped me apart.

The Limelight was magical. Peter Gatien's other clubs, like Tunnel or USA were great, but nothing compared to the Limelight.

John Carmen and Claire O'Connor along with the media made the Limelight famous, not Peter Gatien. They came up with every crazy idea to bring the media there and to keep them writing about the club. There were no rules and the more we wrote about the place, the more the public wanted to get in. There may have been thousand of people in the club, but it was our party, it was our magic and it was our time to live.We made Michael Alig famous, but we were the backbone of the party. Alig kept the drag queens flowing, but we kept the press coming in. We kept the Limelight in the newspapers and magazines and we kept the place on TV and this brought in the world. But we were the ones behind the scenes showing the world what we wanted them to see. No matter how wasted we all were, we were all like the magic in the wind. We knew publicity and we knew partying.

Every celebrities visit, no matter how innocent could be a scandal the next day in all the papers. We were that good. It is funny how these movie companies keep going to a few people that were a very small part of the Limelight and consider them experts. They have no idea how things really worked behind the scenes. It's always the same old people, who most of the time never made it past the velvet ropes into the VIP room.

I guess I am just old now, but nothing seems to be as fun. No club these days can compare to The Limelight, Palladium or Studio 54. The city went after the fun and they went after gay sex. Now New York City has no big clubs. The city has no more fun as I knew it. And I wonder why these movie companies don't reach out to the real people who knew what the Limelight was really all about.

Drugs and Murder. The Limelight was just so much more. Soon we will all be dead and the secrets of the night will never be told.

MARK BEGO ON WHITNEY HOUSTON'S SPARKLE

****
TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP MOVIE REVIEW

'Sparkle,' with Irene Cara in the starring role and her interest was indeed sparked!
****

 Whitney Houston

“Thanks to the premiere of the film 'Sparkle,' Whitney Houston's millions of worldwide fans will get their chance to finally say 'goodbye' to the tragic diva who captured our hearts in the 1980s, and who first dazzled us on the big screen in the 1990s. When Houston was a young girl growing up in Newark, New Jersey, she saw the original film version of 'Sparkle,' with Irene Cara in the starring role and her interest was indeed sparked!

In her final film role, as the character Sparkle's world-weary mother, finally Whitney Houston has come full circle. It is a fond and fitting farewell to a true singing legend. Her dynamic acting with Jordin Sparks is totally compelling onscreen.

It makes you wonder just what Whitney was capable of in the future. It is a fitting send off.”

KEITH COLLINS TALKS ABOUT 'MEAT PUPPET'

****
THE TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP INTERVIEW
****

 Keith Collins

Keith Collins is by far becoming the hardest, working man in show business. Producer, Advocate & Award Winning Actor, Keith is wearing all hats for his latest project “The Meat Puppet”. In this new horror / psychological thriller that is currently filming in New Jersey, Keith plays Andrew Shelton, a handsome playboy with an insatiable appetite for women and meat. He also is the movie’s producer and the premise of the film came from his deep seeded mind.

In a career that has spanned over a decade with way over thirty films under his belt, and many accolades, Collins feels “The Meat Puppet” will be his breakout role. In a recent chat with the veteran actor he revealed why he believes in this movie and what the future holds.

TSG: The Meat Puppet has a very original premise. Where did the idea come from and how did you get the project off the ground?

COLLINS: (laughs) I had this crazy idea in my head for years about a successful guy who seems to have it altogether but has this really dark secret where he is in search for the perfect meal and the only thing that will satisfy him is killing, cooking and eating beautiful women. So I just kept it in the back of my mind for a while I didn’t want to rush anything until I was ready to get the right people on board to do it right. I reached out to Joseph and Billy Pepitone who wrote a hilarious comedy I was in called “Stuck in the Middle”. I really liked their style and how they didn’t shy away from controversy and I thought they would be perfect for this. They turned in a first draft in about a week and I was amazed and loved it. I knew I was on to something.

TSG: Once you had the script, how did you move closer to getting the film made?

COLLINS: I wanted people with the same passion for this project as I had. Joseph and Billy definitely did. I reached out to Joe Valenti (Valenti Vision Films), a director I worked with on a movie called “Echelon 8” and Blaze Kelly Coyle (Silver Phoenix Entertainment), who produced it. That was the best decision I made. Valenti and Coyle jumped head first into this project and it really came together. Valenti added those extra needed elements and came up with some amazing twists in the story. I can’t tell you what an outstanding job he is doing shooting this film. He has a good eye and incredible vision in filmmaking. I always believed that “The Meat Puppet” could be a good horror movie, but working with this team, I believe it is going to not only be a good horror movie, but just a great movie all together, period.

TSG: The cast is very eclectic group. How did you go about casting this movie?

COLLINS: I was able to get a lot of my friends on board really early on in the process. They believed in me and what my vision was and they all loved the script and wanted to be a part of it. Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns and Roses), Geri Reischl (The Brady Bunch Variety Hour), Billy Garcia (Survivor), former (New York Yankee) Billy Sample, Erick Chopin who won (The Biggest Loser), Gregg Valentino (TLC’s The Man Whose Arms Exploded), Jason Prager (Beauty and the Geek), Gary Garver formerly from (The Howard Stern Show), Brandon Ruckdashel (CO-Ed Confidential), Theresa Galeani (Cross the Line), Gervase Peterson (Survivor, Season One), John Fields (A-List DJ Unique), Jamie Kovac (American Gladiators), April Hunter (WCW / TNA), Cindy Fox (The Naked Cowgirl), Faith Stanek (Star Trek Phase 2 Web Series), Emilio Masella (Oxygen’s Love Games), Doug Bollinger (Waltzing Anna), and the list goes on and on. We had then searched for a while and casted for two of the lead roles and Daniela Rivera & Chris Wilkes landed them to join our cast. Everyone has been terrific so far and every day of filming has been a pleasure.

TSG: We’ve seen a change in horror films over the last ten years. There seems to be a heavier emphasis on gore and shock. Every film tries to out do the last? Is The Meat Puppet going to try to top other horror movies?

COLLINS: The way “The Meat Puppet” is going to out do other horror films is by having an incredible story. There is a lot in this movie that horror buffs will love but this is also a great psychological thriller that will take your mind on one heck of a ride. People are really going to be totally blown away by the story, by how great this film looks and the acting. I truly can’t wait for people to see this film and for me to see all their reactions.
