The New York Women’s Foundation® (NYWF) hosted A Toast of Appreciation cocktail event in honor of the foundation’s supporters at La Petite Maison Restaurant, Tuesday, September 13th, 2011 from 6PM to 8PM. While enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a special performance by the Opera Collective, guests mingled and shared personal histories with the Foundation. Newly elected NYWF Chair, Board of Directors, Diana L. Taylor, addressed guests about her commitment to the work of NYWF by funding appropriate groups across the city that are contributing to the financial security of women and their families and thereby improving life in communities citywide. In addition, Ana L. Oliveira, NYWF President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the dedication and commitment of those who support and fulfill the NYWF mission. A Toast of Appreciation is an annual event calling attention to the people and communities who donate their generous support and time to NYWF. Those who attended included Ana Oliveira, NYWF President and CEO, Diana Taylor, NYWF Chair, Board of Directors, Jessamyn Rodriguez, Founder and CEO of Hot Bread Kitchen, Former NYWF Grantee Partner, Grace Hightower De Niro, NYWF Board of Directors, Lorie Slutsky, NY Community Trust, Lucy Friedman, President of Afterschool Alliance, Gale Brewer, New York City Council Woman, Fran Barrett, Atlantic Philanthropies, Vincent McGee, Atlantic Philanthropies and Jean Shafiroff.
The major upcoming event for NYWF is the annual celebration of New York City’s boroughs and this year’s event, Neighborhood Dinner in Queens, will take place on October 25, 2011 at The Riverside Restaurant and Lounge in Long Island City, New York. The annual event will honor Alice Cardona, Former NYWF Board President, Kwanghee Kim, Former NYWF Board Member, Seema Agnani, Chhaya CDC, Executive Director and Robina Niaz, Turning Point for Families, Executive Director. The dinner will celebrate the foundation’s members who have demonstrated long–term dedication to their communities through their involvement in neighborhood-based work on behalf of women and girls in Queens.
