Jerry Springer With Wright Kids

When Jerry Springer hosted last season's "America's Got Talent" he made a promise to The Wright Kids that he would come to hear them sing at Pops Ice Cream Shop in Roanoke. He kept that promise on Friday. The Wright Kids of Franklin County have a lot of fans and the biggest one is none other than Jerry Springer, the host of America's Got Talent. The Wright Kids were on America's Got Talent last summer. Springer liked them so much he promised to visit the group here at Pop's Ice Cream in Grandin Village. "I don't think I'm doing anything extraordinary," said Springer. "If you made a promise, you keep it."While the former politician, sometimes actor and tabloid talk-show host was at Pop's, he had a double chocolate malt. This was the best kept secret in town. Family and friends knew, but the kids had no idea. News 7 was there when Springer showed up. "When I saw the limo pull up, I thought it was like the authorities," said Levi Wright. Levi plays the bass and banjo. Springer spent several hours signing autographs, posing for pictures, and listening to the kids perform. They couldn't believe he kept his promise. "I thought maybe, maybe not," said Sage Wright, who often plays the mandolin, but also knows the fiddle and violin. "He has a busy schedule, but when he came back I was like 'oh my gosh.'"
