COURTNEY LOVE DEVASTATED PALTROW

Courtney Love

Gwyneth Paltrow was "devastated" when she first met her idol Hole singer Courtney Love, because the star was "really horrible" to her. The very unlikely couple are now huge friends, but, during their first encounter on the set of Paltrow's 1999 movie "Shakespeare in Love," the Hollywood actress was shocked by Love's rude behavior toward her. She tells Elle magazine, "We were in an elevator and she was really horrible to me. And I was the biggest Hole fan of all time. I was devastated. Then she went on a drugs spiral." However, Love subsequently apologized for her harsh words, and the touching moment led to a very close friendship between the two. Paltrow adds, "When she got sober, she contacted me and was like, 'I feel like I missed an opportunity with you.' Then we just started texting and talking and now when she's here (in the U.K.) she comes round. When we're in L.A. we have dinner."
