Former star Alec Baldwin is urging visitors to New York City to ditch the city’s famous cruel horse drawn carriages, and get drunk and take drugs instead.The native New Yorker claims the vices are as valid as a "tradition" as the carriages, which he say's are cruel to the horses forced to pull tourists around Manhattan. Speaking at a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals event in the Big Apple yesterday, Baldwin talked about the traditions he took part in during his young years in New York with Wenn: "I walked through Union Square on my way to acting class and got offered loose joints. Drug dealing was a great tradition in this city."There are other traditions people can get involved with in this city. When I was younger, I used to get a bottle of wine and get drunk under the Staten Island Ferry… so there are things like that you can do."

Editors Note: As much as I dislike Alec Baldwin, I must agree with him on this one. They have these poor horses in zero degree weather and when it is 100 degrees, they still parade them through New York City. As much as the horses are pretty and remind everyone of the old New York, this should stop. Better to bring back the drug dealers !

the worst part is that after these horses can no longer pull effectively, they are sent packing on a plane to an overseas slaughter house.

Gwen, you are either a liar or being led by the nose by the humaniac propaganda.
Our horses are RETIRED - I personally have 3 retirees. And just an FYI - they don't out horses on planes lol.
