MTV announced that the network will partner with fashion icon and style leader Diddy for a full fashion blowout! "If I Were King," a documentary executive produced by Diddy that chronicles and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Sean John label, airs Wednesday, April 9th at 10p.m. ET. On Saturday, April 12nd at 2p.m. ET, sure to be remembered as "Diddy Day," viewers will be treated to an encore of the documentary and the MTV special "Sean John: Internship by Design." Throughout the day leading up to the documentary encore, viewers can tune-in periodically to see four New York City design students prepare their own fashion creations according to three Diddy-appointed challenges in order to become the next Sean John label intern. "MTV has had a successful programming partnership with Diddy both in front of and behind the camera,"said Tony DiSanto, EVP of Series Development & Programming for MTV. "We allow him a platform for the diverse scope of his creative vision and always welcome his ideas, from series to movies."A celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the Sean John fashion label, "If I Were King" is a documentary that offers viewers a private look at one of the most public figures in entertainment as Diddy muses on how he built one of the world's preeminent fashion companies. As he prepares for his label's first runway show in five years, candid moments with Diddy emerge and the stylemaker's origins and life influences are revealed. Known as a dynamic performer and businessman to be reckoned with, just how many obstacles he surmounted to achieve his success will come to light.In "Sean John: Internship By Design" four students will compete in the ultimate runway rumble with professional models strutting the catwalk in their custom designs to the accompaniment of a live performance by rap artist Flo Rida. For these young designers, it will take a whole lot of swagger but even more style to prove that just one of them deserves to be the next Sean John intern as they face critique from some of the industry's most respected names. Serving as judges for the special are world renowned fashion designer Zac Posen, stylist/author June Ambrose, celebrity stylist Marni Senofonte and of course, Diddy himself.Proving anyone who joins his team should be able to withstand a fight to the fashion finish, Diddy will have the students compete in the fashion trials "Preserve The Sexy" where they will be given garments from the 1998 inaugural Sean John line and have to transform them into current ones that reflect today's style; "Dressing The Band" where they must create an outfit for one of the ladies from the Bad Boy recording group Danity Kane; and "Red Carpet Remix" where they are given a classic suit or dress and are enlisted to give the garment a major glam-up worthy of any red carpet event.Sean Combs, Peter Safran, Jacquelyn French and Brendan Sherman serve as executive producers of "If I Were King." Toni DiBari, Jacquelyn French, Karen Frank and Tim Healy serve as executive producers; Matthew Parillo serves as Executive In Charge; and Tracy Hellerud produces "Sean John: Internship by Design" for MTV.
