COLIN FARRELL'S SON'S CEREBRAL PALSY

Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell's four-year-old son suffers from a rare form of cerebral palsy. The Irish actor has revealed that youngster James was born with Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder which affects only 1 in 12,000 people and leaves its victims barely able to walk or talk. Angelman Syndrome also causes frequent fits and seizures, but sufferers tend to have a smiling, happy demeanour.Farrell said: "With my son the only time I'm reminded that there is something different about him - that he has some deviation of what is perceived to be normal - is when I see him with other four-year-olds."Then I go, 'Oh yeah', and it comes back to me. But from day one I felt that he's the way he's meant to be."I am incredibly blessed to have James in my life. He has shown amazing courage and he is an incredibly happy boy despite everything he has faced."James took his first steps just weeks ago, leaving his father weeping with pride. Farrell, 31, added to the Irish Independent newspaper: "He spent four years working his a**e off for that moment. When he took the first steps it was incredibly emotional, there wasn't a dry eye in the house."Colin - who has joint custody of James with his mother Kim Bordenave - wants to make sure his son achieves "his individual potential". He said: "I have never thought of my son as being someone with a disability. It goes back to special needs and what is a disability and what isn't."

The power of a father's steadfast belief and love in his child CAN move mountains. NEVER stop loving and believing.

Your son is perfect for you and for himself; he is a reminder to take the time to appreciate that which we so often fail to see.

Good luck with your family and God's blessings!

That is sad to hear about his son.
He is a genuinely nice person.
A relative of mine (Arturo Adrian) worked w/ Colin on the set
of THE NEW WORLD.
Artie & Colin developed a friendship on the set & still keep
in touch via email.
He said Colin was a really nice guy.
Yes, he was wild but deep down he was a genuine person.
(Colin has since been in rehab.)
Artie invited Colin to a Pow-Wow in the area of Virginia they
were filming in.
Colin attended wearing shades & a hat so no one would
recognize him.
He told about not being able to go out in public w/o being
stampeded.
He spent the day w/ the family.
Later on in the day out in the hot sun Colin removed his
shades & hat to pour cool water on himself.
Fans recognized him & he had to get out before he was
swarmed.
He had no bodyguard w/ him.

I know stars make themselves public commodities but it
is a bit sad when they cannot even enjoy a quiet day out.
We all need that!
No amount of money should buy that.

Good luck Colin!

Thank you James for reporting about Colin.
You hardly hear anything about him now that he isn't
wild & partying.
