INDUCTEES – The wonderful Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Other-wise known as ‘Jann’s Club,’ just announced their inductees for this year; which includes: Neil Diamond; Darlene love; Tom Waits; and, Alice Cooper. The real interesting note here is that they've decided to give Leon Russell a sideman award. That’s interesting, because the artist has never been a sideman; rather, one of the most prolific and dynamic performers ever on the music scene! Dr. John is more of a sideman, but that’s the way the club is run … strangely! As my colleague Roger Friedman noted earlier today, “With Neil Diamond finally elected, and Alice Cooper, that only leaves about 30 different acts who've been overlooked. From Chicago and The Moody Blues to Chubby Checker and Billy Preston and The Monkees … the list goes on and on” Amen Roger!

DAVID LYNCH - Monday night at the beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art , was the yearly David Lynch Foundation event; Change Begins Within. At last year’s fete at Radio City Music Hall, Paul McCartney performed, and none other than Ringo Starr showed up. Actually, the events coincided with Starr’s birthday which brought an added sense of wonder to the night. The foundation’s mantra (if you will!) tries to further the use of Transcendental Meditation (TM). Lynch has practiced TM for years; so do Clint Eastwood and host Russell Brand, who was simply a fabulous MC. As I watched Brand on stage, I thought for a moment what a wonderful new personality he has become. I just saw him in the latest-making of The Tempest (and, he’s got the re-make of Arthur coming up too) Now, he’s got Katy Perry too … and, he’s really funny! An embarrassment of riches I'd say. Also there, were: Edward Norton; Rita Cosby; Lon Van Eaton; Rose McGowan; Laura Elena Harring; Kyle McLachlan; Desiree Gruber; Donna Karan; Moby; Susan Sarandon; Ben Folds; Frederique van der Wal; McCartney’s son James; Dr. Oz; the Pasha-David Salidor; and Denise Rich.

Cindy W. MorrisonGIRLFRIENDS 2.0 – Cindy W. Morrion’s life changed when she was laid off from a 20 year career in TV because of the economy … and, eventual downsizing. If that wasn't enough, she was diagnosed with a grapefruit size tumor two weeks later. Luckily, her Girlfriend Support Network helped her not only survive, but to re-invent herself as an author with the release next month of GIRLFRIENDS 2.0 (Yorkshire Publishing). With support from a fiercely-loyal network of friends, she has emerged as powerful motivational speaker on the national front; while fielding new offers from the TV and cable fields (she had already won several awards in the field). Everyone loves a success story … and, this book certainly describes one in stunning detail. In the book she shows one how to reboot your life and career. And, with the startling news this week that one in every nine people in the country are out of work; it couldn't have been timed better. Her writing is very candid and she is to be applauded for that. As she says, “The book is about rebooting; upgrading; and, building a support group around you so you can survive, and even thrive. Anything difficult that comes your way … you, can deal with.” According to her spokesperson David Salidor, she will be in New York next month, with a proper launch party at Chris Gilman’s Yuerba Buena Perry in Downtown Manhattan. We’ll have more then.Photos By: RD/Vega/Walter McBride/Dziekan/Retna
