Fran Drescher

‘The Nanny’ is the perfect companion to other modern classics ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ and ‘Roseanne’,” states TV Land senior vice president of programming and acquisitions Jaclyn Cohen. “Millions of viewers tuned in every week to this timeless and entertaining series because they couldn’t resist Fran Drescher’s endearing character, the talented cast and the show’s quick-witted writing.” Drescher starred in this beloved ‘90s sitcom as Fran Fine, a bubbly and nasal-voiced Queens native who was fired from her job and abandoned by her boyfriend. Eventually selling cosmetics door to door, she meets a rich, widowed English Broadway producer named Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy) and is taken for an applicant for the job of nanny to Maxwell's three children Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury), and Grace (Madeline Zima). Her nurturing style includes out-of-the-ordinary techniques coupled with a tell-it-like-it-is attitude which made the children, the butler, Niles (Daniel Davis) – and eventually her boss – fall in love with her. Also complementing the exceptional cast was Fran’s food-loving mother, Sylvia (RenĂ©e Taylor) and Maxwell’s partner and Niles’ arch-enemy, C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane). Drescher was nominated twice for an Emmy® and the show received countless awards including a TV Land Award in 2008 for Favorite Nanny. “The Nanny” ran on CBS from 1993-1999.
