MICKY DOLENZ HAPPY TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN
Monkee-MICKY DOLENZ was spotted at the Theatre At Westbury as the HAPPY TOGETHER tour pulled into town. Dolenz's new album, KING FOR A DAY (Gigatone Records) is out come August and the tour, with The Buckinghams; Grassroots; Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders; and, The Turtles, continues through the summer. Dolenz has also been named co-chair of the Grammy-offshoot organization, musicFIRST, that fights for performance rights for artists. Dolenz joins such acts as Lyle Lovett, Sheryl Crow, and Will.I.Am who have participated in the series. The legislation would require radio stations to compensate artists and copyright owners when they use music, comedy, spoken word, or other recordings to make money, just as songwriters are compensated. For the first time, recording artists would see a piece of the massive profits made on their creative works. Dolenz, along with Starshsip-lead singer Mickey Thomas are participating in Gigatone Entertainment's forthcoming myRECORDFANTASY events later this summer. "Micky Dolenz and Mickey Thomas have sung some of rock's biggest hits and we're excited about their respective myRecordFantasty events," added Gigatone CEO Mitch Koulouris.
