WE MEET THE SUCCESS STORIES! Girls who have been participating in the Energy Up! program during the school year (wearing “Fit, Fabulous, Fierce!” T-shirts) helped guests sample the experience. This included “A Taste of Energy Up!,” featuring “Voltage Approved” foods provided by COUNTER restaurant and other leading “healthy” chefs and restaurants at the forefront of “clean” cuisine. At 8:00 p.m. remarks were made by Energy Up! creator, High Voltage, and Anne Tisch, founder of The Young Women’s Leadership Network. Katie Couric presented the first “Fit, Fabulous, Fierce Award” to Sarah Siegel-Magness, producer of the Oscar Award-winning film Precious, and recognize this year’s Fit, Fabulous, and Fierce Experts for their contributions to Energy Up! Fabulous Expert Rebecca Weinberg (Sex & the City costume designer) presented the “Fab Five Awards” to this year’s five girls who best exemplify the mission of the Energy Up! program. The presentation highlighted the new EUVA website and a short film about the Energy Up! program and its impact on the lives and well-being of hundreds of girls in the New York City school system. The evening’s festivities concluded with an Energy Up! Dance Party, featuring a choreographed performance led by Jermaine Browne to “Stomp Out Type II Diabetes and Childhood Obesity.” Three time Emmy winner Rita Cosby also showed up to support this great cause, even with her busy schedule for the long awaited release of her new true story Quiet Hero, which hits bookshelves May 18th.
