BOY GEORGE VOWS TO STAY CLEAN AND SOBER

Former Culture Club icon Boy George is very determined to keep away from drugs, because a relapse would devastate the people he cares about. George has battled with drug abuse for years, but finally kicked them a year before he was jailed in January 2009 for the false imprisonment and assault of a male escort in 2007. George says he has remained clean since his release last May. And the "George also says he would not be able to face the people who stood by him if he ever returned to his drug-taking ways. He told Britain's Independent newspaper, "Will I ever relapse again? I hope not, no. To be honest, it would be crazy at this point. I've put so many people through so much drama, so much torture, especially my family, and I don't think I could live with myself if I ever did that to them again. To let those people down is something I simply cannot consider any more. "You never hear about people successfully being in recovery, do you? You only hear about people being [bleep] up. But there are many people in recovery all the time, and a great many of them do manage to stay clean, to do good, to sort out their lives. I should know. I'm one of them."
