Aimee Garcia: They have to realize that we're not paramedics or EMTs. We're doing our best to portray them as accurately as possible. But it's not “Cops”. It's not a documentary on the Discovery Channel. We're just actors on a TV show. We try to balance medical accuracy with drama. Most of the time EMT's will go on what they call, “Medical calls” to fix a broken arm or help a grandmother who fell off her chair. It's not life or death. When you're competing against Monday Night Football, Dancing With The Stars and Two and A Half Men, helping someone with a broken arm isn't really too visually stimulating. Although it would be more accurate. People have to realize that pilots are a selling tool to capture the attention of the audience. We do the best we can to be accurate, but the paramedics and EMT workers have to realize the goal of the network is to get ratings. There's nothing that stimulating about fixing a broken arm.
