SOCIALITE SARA HERBERT GALLOWAY HURT

****
Our good friend and Times Square Gossip writer Sara Herbert Galloway was injured the other day by New York City Police negligence. The police barricades are always being put up for just about every event around New York City. They are always taken apart and left for anyone to trip over. I have ripped clothes, fallen down and all this because the police department is not doing their job. We have to put up with alot in New York City on a daily basis. They close streets with these barricades all the time. People get injured on a daily basis. We wonder how many lawsuits the city gets each year because the Police Department does not do their job right by removing these dangerous barricades. They just collapse them and throw them on the sidewalk. We will not show you the photos of Sara, they are too graphic. This beautiful person looks like she was beaten by a baseball bat. Shame on New York City for treating the people that pay taxes like they are garbage. Shame on New York City for littering the streets with these dangerous barricades. Below is Sara's story. We hope someone in NYC is listening!

New York City Barricade

Every year when the UN goes into session, the midtown area becomes a battle zone between the police and people both pedestrians and those in vehicles. New Yorkers become the victims. While we are cautioned every year of the gridlock and change in traffic pattern, attention to detail is not paid. It seems that the police directing the traffic are for the most part rookies almost like rent a cops. One never gets a straight answer and gets a different answer from each of them. They seem angry at the world, rather than doing their jobs. I believe they add to the chaos. I was walking along Park Ave at noon on Friday, crossed the street to the southeast side of 58th. Sirens were blaring as The usual 2 lane 57th street had been decreased to 1 lane. Pedestrians were shuffling along trying to get from place to place to avoid being trapped between barricades as people can be held for up to an hour waiting for the police to release them to walk after some official or dignitary or perhaps a decoy official passes. I heard of shops being closed where no one could enter or exit until Obama passed, one of many such places was Dramatics hair salon on 48th and 2nd. Anyway, as I crossed the busy street and mixed in with the flood of pedestrians, I did not see the wooden blue police barricade sides that had been collapsed and carelessly tossed on the sidewalk. I tripped over them and flew threw the air as if in slow motion, landing face first on my left side on the metal grating. I don't recall much after that. Some passers by, men asked if I was ok, I told them to leave me there because the cold felt good on my face. They or someone else picked me up, I remember hearing someone say dial 911 she is bleeding. I sat on the street unaware of how I looked, just trying to breathe and shaking all over. I hit speed dial to my associate and boyfriend each one block away, they were there in no time. My boyfriend took one look at me and whisked me into a taxi to the Emergency Room at NY Hospital, the closest hospital to us. I was bleeding a lot and swelling fast. To make a long and painful story short, I have many facial lacerations and scrapes visible outside on my face and inside my cheeks and mouth. My gums were also bleeding. I still have to see a jaw specialist. The good news is that the CAT Scan revealed no broken facial bones or severe head injury, a concussion that makes me have a headache and dizzy with unsteady walking. I am in a lot of pain and hurt all over from the fall. My knee is going in and out of socket and swollen and still has to be evaluated. This fall will take quite a bit of time and suffering. All of this because of carelessness by whomever from the city tossed the barricades onto the sidewalk. The city becomes urban warfare this time of year every year. While in the Emergency room the Drs. told me that 3 other people were admitted with injuries from falling over the wooden barricades as well as tripping over the sides of the metal ones and getting their clothing caught on them. One woman split her mouth and lip wide open after tripping from getting caught on the side of a metal barricade. Shouldn't some type of instruction be given to the city workers or do they just ignore protocol. If citizens threw things on the street we would be fined or arrested. A friend went by the scene of my accident at 5:45pm, the barricades were still tossed on the sidewalk for others to trip over as night came. It would be interesting to know how many innocent New Yorkers were injured while the UN was in session.

Sara,
I hope you heal rapidly from your physical injuries. The emotional will take longer. You trusted the city of NY to a certain standard of conduct. They not only betrayed you but injured you in the process.

I wish the best for your well being.
