MERYL STREEP IGNORED BY CHEF JULIA CHILD

Hollywood star Meryl Streep was ignored by cooking queen Julia Child when she appealed to the her for help with a charity drive, 20 years before she went on to portray the famous chef in Julie & Julia. The award winning actress plays Child in the new film, but it wasn’t Streep’s first experience with the famed cook. She says, "I never met her, but I got a cranky letter from her once, when I wrote to her and tried to enlist her help with my work in the early Slow Food movement, an organization that campaigns against fast food, back in 1989. "I was working with this group that was trying to get people to eat more organic food, and I thought, ‘Gosh, we should get Julia involved.’ She wrote a very brusque response, saying she wasn’t interested."
