Miss New Jersey To Welcome Home
N.J. Army National Guard

50th IBCT Brigade At Yellow Ribbon Dinner

Ashley Shaffer

Over 3,000+ troops from the New Jersey Army National Guard 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team have returned home from their overseas duties in Iraq. These brave men and women have dedicated themselves by serving this state and nation in the name of peace in the Middle East region of the globe. On Sunday, August 16, 2009, these men and women along with their families will gather at the Atlantic City Convention Center for the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program. These citizen soldiers of the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team will be the focus of one of the most comprehensive efforts ever undertaken to support troops as they make the transition from warrior to parent, spouse, student, employee and active members of their community. During their visit to Atlantic City these soldiers will take part in a number of reintegration opportunities to help them reconnect with their families, return to their civilian jobs, explore employment opportunities, receive information about veteran’s benefits and financial services, and ensure that their physical, mental and spiritual needs are being met. The troops and their families are attending a dinner being held in the Mark G. Etess Arena at Trump Taj Mahal Casino and Resort, where they will be honored as the heroes that they are. Dinner will be served in the Mark G. Etess Arena beginning at 6:00 PM. Miss New Jersey 2009 - Ashley Shaffer will make an appearance at 7:00 PM and deliver a brief welcome home to the troops, as well as be available for photo opportunities with the soldiers and their families and to sign autographs.
