Designer Paige Gamble

Despite all the talk of doom and gloom, the chic trendy shops on historic Job’s Lane in Southampton have never been busier - or seen so many new young designers making their presence known and hearing the delicious sound of cash registers going ca-ching, ca-ching! Job’s Lane for decades the destination for savvy trendsetters was bustling.4th of July weekend on Job’s Lane, the oldest commercial street in America opened in 1604, looked more like Christmas in Herald Square surrounding Macy’s. A lot of this has to do with the new blood the shopping mecca has lured to join established names like Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren Stubbs & Wooten, J. McLaughlin and the inimitable Jackie Rogers. Just this week Madison Avenue fave Paige Gamble opened a gorgeous new shop in one of the lane’s courtyard where her colorful handbags of alligator, python and ostrich skin are displayed like precious gems in a 5th Avenue salon. Her unique clutches embellished with large chunks of beach glass are real eye-catchers priced from $950 up. A great are her enormous semi-precious gemstone rings from India at only $250!

Eric Wreede And Jill Lynn

Down the lane is the pert and cheery Jill Lynn whose delicate gold and silver jewelry with gemstone accents has become a fave of the beach and tennis crowd. Her young and fresh designs can be seen on all the chic younger set. Jill also has monthly exhibitions of artists in her lime green boutique that just screams summer.

Peter Hananel

Across the street is a shop more likely to be seen in Nolita or Williamsburg – TBD, the brainchild of two young New Yorkers – Peter Hananel and Jesse Warren - who wanted to offer the hip young men an alternative to the Lily Pulitzer bold pastels and embroidered belts that are ubiquitous in posh resort communities. Theier store carries such cutting edge lines as Unis, super sunglasses and Thom’s Shoes. Thom who has become famed for providing impoverished children with free shoes for every pair he sells has a line of espadrille like summer shoes for guys that can go from sandy beach to city sidewalk. Up a few doors from TBD is the new Peter & Annie shop offering a wide assortment of beach wear fro men, women and children – everything from board shorts in wild flowered patterns to sexy bikinis to see though cover ups for the gals. The Peter is Peter Freese and Annie is his pet bull dog, the shop mascot.

Irma Herzog Owner Of The Driver's Seat

When you’ve finished your shopping, drop by The Drivers Seat which recently underwent a face lift and added a small dining terrace. This is Times Square Gossip's favorite watering hole. But the place to sit is the back bar on their flower filled outdoor patio where some of the best burgers and summertime cocktails are served up by what has to be the most pleasant serving team in The Hamptons – no ‘Tude here!
