BOMB THREATS RUIN CELEBRITIES NEW YEAR

Bomb threats ruined a several planned New Year’s Eve celebrity parties in Aspen, Colorado. The New York Post is reporting that four homemade bombs, disguised as wrapped gifts, were dotted around the celebrity retreat, where stars like Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn, newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon and Jack Nicholson rang in 2009. A bitter local businessman is suspected of planting the bombs after police found the body of James Blanning Jr., 72, early on New Year’s Day. He had shot himself in the head after leaving a threatening notes about the bombs. But the quick-work of the local authorities came too late for many Aspen party goers, who decided not to risk an explosion after bars and nightclubs were ordered to shut down. Ivana Trump, who was in town to welcome in 2009 at the Hotel Jerome, reportedly stayed in her room and missed her own party.
