TIMES SQUARE GOSSIP AT VONG RESTAURANT

Vong opened in 1991, it was Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s second restaurant, a hotspot for Thai-French fusion, French style with Thai spices and design – sixteen years later it is still a favorite of many and of mine. A delicious MUST TRY is the Tasting Plate, an appetizer tasting of - crab spring roll, pork satay, raw tuna roll, spiced quail with water cress salad. Want to experience a wonderfully tasty value ? Then try the "Tastes of the Season" lunch, a choice of two dishes plus dessert for $24.07, how could we go wrong? At lunch they offer a $5 glass of Paul Blanck Pinot Blanc (White) or a Cotes du Rhone is the La Framboisière (Red) and an exotic menu of Specialty cocktails. New to the Vong dinner menu is an offering of wine tasting uniquely by the half glass (half priced) as well as by the glass. My lunch buddies and I each ordered something different from the tasting menu: Fred E. Grossman recommended the Grilled Tuna Burger bonito mayonnaise, shiso-yuzu marinated pickle, Tamarind Glazed Duck spicy tamarind- sesame sauce, pineapple fried rice and the Poached Salmon fenugreek broth and spring vegetables. All wonderful choices. Mickey Heller and I adjusted our calorie count accordingly to accommodate for the desserts. We climaxed our orgasmic experience on a Passion Fruit Souffle with Passion fruit ice cream, Cinnamon Roasted Pears and Fig with sableuse cake and Licorice ice cream, Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake with coconut sorbet. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and would highly recommend Vong.
