Singing icon Carly Simon once hung up on her former boyfriend Cat Stevens when he phoned to talk, because he identified himself with his new Islam name. Stevens, who changed his name to Yusaf Islam when he converted to the Muslim faith in 1977, called Simon, 62, to wish her a happy birthday, but gave her his newly adopted title. She recalls, "The voice said, ‘Hello, Carly, this is Yusef Islam.’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone by that name’ and hung up."He called back and said the same thing, so I hung up again. Later in the day, he called again and this time he relinquished his name and said, ‘Carly, it’s Cat Stevens.’ And I said, ‘Oh, it’s you, I love you!’"
