Steak Frites

Long-running French staple Steak Frites has relocated from its former Union Square location to a buzzing, vibrant location downtown at the crossroads of SoHo and the West Village. The quintessential, neighborhood-friendly brasserie, Steak Frites offers a casual-hip and inviting atmosphere complete with a wrap-around bar and well-spaced lounge tables and an airy, open dining room, perfect for brunch, late-night dinners, business lunches, and mid-week meals with the family. The restaurant's extensive selection of wines, beers, and cocktails perfectly complements the extensive menu which features such updated, affordable French classics as the "entrecote de Paris," a perfectly prepared steak frites, and a giant serving of moules frites—each accompanied by a decadent mountain of crispy, hand-cut fries. Other signatures include the endive salad with walnuts, roasted beets, and warm goat cheese; the jumbo lump Maryland crab cake; Ottomanelli's certified Angus hamburger; and the hearty, piled-high Butcher's Cut Steak Sandwich. Finish off your meal with the decadent molten chocolate cake.
But besides serving knockout fare and drinks in an inviting setting, there is so much more to the new and improved Steak Frites: The restaurant serves a late-night menu until TK HOUR accompanied by live music sessions on Wednesdays through Saturdays that feature the city's top subway performers; there's a large outdoor seating area (weather permitting); families can enjoy the Saturday-morning cooking lessons for the little ones; and there's a private dining room that can seat up to 14 guests and features beautiful oak paneling and intimate lighting—the perfect venue for a festive birthday celebration or business dinner.
