ONLINE FIGHT TO CURE PATRICK SWAYZE

An Indiana family has launched the website: CureConnieAndPatrick.com and produced a YouTube video plea in a desperate effort to save the life of their wife & mother Connie, who is battling pancreatic cancer. They've even invoked the shared struggle of actor Patrick Swayze, who was also recently diagnosed with the deadly disease. 90% of patients die within 1-year of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 95% are dead within 5-years of diagnosis. Up until now there hasn't been an effective treatment for the disease, but a new gene therapy treatment called TNFerade has been shown in clinical trials to extend the lives of patients with pancreatic cancer. According to a CBS-Denver report, at least one patient has even been cured. Yesterday the Loughman family will appeared on the Fox News Channel at 12:20 PM Eastern time to ask for the public's assistance to help them cut through the red tape that has prevented their mother from receiving the potentially life-saving treatment, TNFerade. The company that developed TNFerade, GenVec Inc., has declined the request of the Loughman family make the drug available to their mother, Connie, even though the FDA allows such access to drugs still being tested in clinical trials through "compassionate use" or "expanded access" programs for patients with terminal illnesses where there is no effective treatment. The Loughman family has said they will pay for the costs of the treatment and sign a liability waiver, releasing GenVec of all liability from any potential adverse effects from receiving the treatment. “The clock is ticking for those who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, including both Patrick Swayze and my mother,” Jackie Loughman said."Ask yourself if this was your mother, would you just sit back and do nothing, or would you pursue what is by far the most promising treatment that could save her life?" Ms. Loughman asked. The story of the Loughman family's struggle has spread across the nation. Thousands of Americans have already logged on to the CureConnieAndPatrick.com website and watched the YouTube video presentation.
