Brad Pitt

E! NEWS -- When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie boarded a flight from Nice to Los Angeles last September, neither of them could have realized the trip would mark the beginning of one of the nastiest splits in Hollywood history.

We now know the fated journey, during which Brad got into a disagreement with his 15-year-old son Maddox, would lead to an explosive FBI investigation into what really happened on the plane.

Less than a year earlier the couple had posed together on the red carpet while promoting their latest movie together, By the Sea—ironically a film about the breakdown of a marriage. Despite the depressing subject matter, Brad and Angelina acted like two people deeply in love as they held hands and looked adoringly into one another's eyes while photographers joyfully snapped away.

Their romance had a rocky beginning, due to the perceived overlap with Brad's previous marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Yet it didn't take long for Brangelina to become the hottest couple in Hollywood. During their 11 years together, Angelina transformed from the "other woman" into a regal world-class humanitarian and director, while Brad managed to shed any doubt over whether he should have stayed with his first wife by becoming a doting father to six incredible children.

To describe them as "head over heels" during their happiest moments would be an understatement. As a source, who socialized with them on a number of occasions before their split, explained to me, "I've never spent time with two people more intoxicated with one another. The chemistry when they were in the same room together was palpable."

But then, seven months ago, it all fell apart. As they traveled from France to the U.S., they stopped in Minnesota to refuel, setting off a chain of events that sparked a public battle of epic proportions not seen since Brad's split from Jen.

It was clear from the moment the sensational news broke that Angelina had filed for divorce that this was not going to be like the goop-sanctioned breakups we have been privy to in the past. Instead of consciously uncoupling amid joint photo opportunities with estranged spouses and co-parents putting on their best movie star smiles, there were jaw-dropping allegations, most of which were aimed in Brad's direction. Had he been drinking excessively? Did he get too close to his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard? Was he too strict with the kids? The never-ending blame over who was really at fault for the disintegration of the most public of marriages played out on the front pages of newspapers around the world.

Marion Cotillard Sounds Off on Brad Pitt Affair Rumors: I Don't Give Energy to This

Little did we realize, as the headlines started to pile up, that the explosive nature of the breakup was merely mirroring the relationship dynamics that had been playing out behind closed doors in the months before that fated trip. "Things had been volatile in their relationship for a little while," says an insider. "They had crazy fights and wouldn't speak for a bit. They would take some time apart, go on location, calm down and miss each other.

"But, no matter how bad it got, Brad, especially, was never planning on walking away. Every so often, Angelina threatened divorce, but in Brad's eyes, their lives were stressful because they were raising six kids, things were always going to work out."

Obviously he was wrong.

By Thanksgiving, the war between the Jolie-Pitts was reaching fever pitch and Brad had barely seen the kids since Jolie filed for divorce seeking primary custody. Confusion still remained even after he was cleared by authorities in the plane incident. Then when he was temporarily granted only supervised visitation, it ominously seemed that Brad and Angelina would never see eye to eye.

But as 2017 rolled around, there was a ceasefire. Finally, the two managed to agree on something— and that was to seal any court documents relating to custody, thus putting an end to the publicly frosty he-said, she-said as Brad fought for more access to their kids.

In February, when Angelina was promoting her movie First They Killed My Father in Cambodia, she broke her silence on the split, telling the BBC, "We are and forever will be a family. And so that is how I'm coping. I'm coping with finding a way through to make sure this somehow makes us stronger and closer."

It was only weeks later that we discovered the exact meaning behind her words. Brad had secretly traveled to Cambodia as well, on a prearranged trip so he could spend time with the children. While Brad and Angelina opted to stay in different accommodations, it was still a clear improvement from the bitter rivalry that had split their family apart the previous fall.

So what changed? A source explains, "Brad was shocked at how quickly their family just blew up. Both him and Angelina had always led very private lives and did everything they could to stay out of the public eye for the children's sake. That was an important value and vision that they both shared. And then, for Brad, it felt like she took the kids away and started an all-out war, and that was hard for him to reconcile.

"They did not speak at all for months," the source continues. "He was furious with her in a way he has never been furious before. This was a defining moment in his life and he felt devastated and lost without his kids. He wanted to protect them but everything was discussed through lawyers."

According to our insider, from the very start Brad hoped the details of their split would remain confidential, but it took some time for both of them to agree on their differences. "They have made some progress and are taking small steps in the right direction. Both are in agreement on putting the kids first. So that part of the equation is better."

It's now been seven months since Angelina's surprise filing and, while things are far from the fairy tale we once imagined their life to be, the Jolie-Pitts are managing to regain some of the privacy they once enjoyed. The kids are now rebuilding their relationship with their father, and the actors who first met when they played an embattled couple in Mr. and Mrs. Smith are finally on speaking terms. Things are starting to go back to a new kind of normal for the clan.

"The kids have always adored Brad and have a very solid relationship with him," says a friend of the pair. "He is a fun dad and extremely loving and affectionate but definitely the disciplinarian and stricter of the two parents. They have occasional moments, like any parents and kids do, but at the end of the day there is nothing but love, role modeling and guidance at the core."

Therapists have also helped bring the family back together. "Angelina regrets the way she handled certain things and wants to be at peace with Brad," the friend says. And Brad "will continue to put the kids first and not say anything negative about their mother.

"He feels like his life fell apart in one day. His kids are everything to him and their happiness and success is what's most important. He would never ever put them through what they went through if he could have prevented it."

As far as those inevitable rumors that the pair might become the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of the modern era, our sources say a romantic reconciliation is very unlikely. "Brad is way too upset still. He blames Angie for how public everything became," one insider says. "He knows that eventually it is best to forgive her and be on good terms for the sake of the children but he feels let down in a way he never thought was possible. He saw a different side of her and he can't forget. The way everything went down has been beyond comprehension."

Although the source does warn us that, when it comes to these two, you can "never say never."

Angelina has also been doing her part to try to heal the inevitable pain a family feels when it is torn apart. While initially choosing to rent a Malibu home for her and the children to reside in post-blowup, she has now forked out $25 million so the kids can live just a few streets away from the home they shared with their dad in Los Feliz. "Going back and forth from Malibu was far and inconvenient," confirms an insider. "They will be moving in this summer and will continue to see Brad more regularly."

Ultimately, there are six young people who matter more to Brad and Angelina than any slight or hurt feelings.

"It all comes down to what's best for the kids," the source says, "and Brad hopes that somehow, some way, they will come out of this stronger and better off. He is going to devote his life to being the best dad he can be."

Katharine McPhee

Katharine McPhee's six-year marriage to Nick Cokas is officially over.

The Scorpion star filed for divorce from her husband in May 2014 after having already been separated for a year and now, close to two years later, a judge has signed off on their split agreement.

According to court documents filed Monday in L.A. Superior Court, McPhee must pay Cokas $102,616 within the next few days, and he will thereafter receive spousal support of up to $400,000 a year, or a prorated $33,333 a month on a sliding scale.

McPhee will get to keep all of the furniture, artwork and personal effects in her possession, including a 2013 Mercedes M Class SUV. Moreover, she'll hang onto various bank accounts and insurance policies, as well as certain music and TV rights.

As for Cokas, he keeps his 2013 Jeep Wrangler and a percentage of some of his ex's music royalties.

At the time of the filing, the Scorpion star released the following diplomatic statement:

"After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas. The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time."

The pair had first met in 2005, a year before she rose to Hollywood prominence as a contestant on the fifth season of the famous Fox talent show. Two years later, they got engaged and McPhee walked down the aisle in Beverly Hills on Feb. 2, 2008.

Signs that their relationship had gone sour were quite clear when McPhee wasspotted kissing her also married Smash director Michael Morris in Oct. 2013, a period of time when the star claims she had already silently separated from her husband. Morris has since reconciled with his wife Mary McCormack, with whom he has three daughters.

After McPhee and Cokas' separation, the singer was sighted getting very close to her Scorpion co-star and new beau Elyes Gabel as early as January of last year, most recently enjoying a beachside makeout session over the summer in between takes of their show.

She filed for divorce on May 22, 2014, though their date of separation was later listed as May 24. McPhee "is in a really good place right now," a source told E! News at the time.

Ben Affleck

E! News can exclusively reveal that the recently single Ben Affleck took his two daughters—Violet Affleck, 9, and Seraphina Affleck, 6—to attend Taylor Swift 's fifth and final concert at the Staples Center in L.A. Wednesday night. "They all had a great time," a source says of the Afflecks. "This was something they really wanted to do."

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star, 43, scored extra cool points when they went backstage to meet Taylor. "Everyone was ecstatic!" the source says of meeting the "Shake It Off" singer. "He was excited," the source adds, "as were they."

Taylor asked several stars to join her on stage. While Ben wasn't among them, she sang "Good for You" with Selena Gomez, "Smelly Cat" with Lisa Kudrow and "Mirrors" with Justin Timberlake. "They all had a great time," the source says of Ben and his family, adding that it was "made even better by JT's appearance."

(Ben and Justin, of course, co-starred in 2013's Runner Runner.)

In addition to Ben and his daughters, other famous attendees who were spotted at the concert Wednesday included Miranda Cosgrove, Nina Dobrev, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Calvin Harris, Julianne Hough, Jaime King, Lauren Paul, Ruby Rose,Emma Stone, Zelda Williams and Reese Witherspoon, among many others.

Taylor's 1989 World Tour resumes Saturday at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.

Ben, meanwhile, has spent a good portion of the summer in Atlanta, where his ex,Jennifer Garner, has been filming the movie Miracles From Heaven. In June, the actors announced plans to divorce after 10 years of marriage.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," Ben and Jennifer told E! News in a statement. "This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."

The exes—who also have a 3-year-old son, Samuel Affleck—have continued to participate in family outings post-split. In July, allegations surfaced that Ben had an affair with the children's 28-year-old nanny, Christine Ouzounian, who no longer works for the family. The actor, for his part, has strongly denied the allegations.

Kim Kardashian

The cover story from the new issue of Us Weekly has all of the details on Kim Kardashian’s desperation to have ex Kris Humphries finally let her go as their divorce drama has dragged out to six times the length of their 72-day marriage. Only he, after all, can set her free to marry Kanye West before the pair’s baby arrives this summer. “Kris told his friends the pregnancy is the best thing to happen for him,” says the source. “He says he has all the power again.” Humphries’ delays have become so brazen that Kim’s divorce attorney Laura Wasser recently complained to the judge her client “is handcuffed to Mr. Humphries” and a Kim source accuses her bitter ex, 27, of making a sport of postponements. “Kris’ friends say he laughs about pushing back depositions because that stalls the whole case.”

For all their bling, the Kim and Kanye refuse to pay the $7 million a source says Humphries suggested it would take for him to walk away and grant Kim her freedom. As for his demand that she grant him an annulment on the grounds of fraud, a source says Kim refuses to tell the world she lied about being in love with the basketball player. At one point, her resolve did weaken to the point where she asked her attorney if she should just give in, says the source, “but she can’t legally anyway. It would be perjury.” Not to mention that an admission — true or not — would fulfill Humphries’ plan to publicly shame her. “If the annulment is granted and the prenup became null and void, the confidentiality clause would also go,” California matrimonial law expert Vikki Ziegler tells Us. “He could sell his story.” And, adds Ziegler, if the annulment is granted based on fraud, meaning Kim hoodwinked him into a $10 million wedding watched by 10.5 million E! viewers, “Kris may be able to file suit for damages.” So, Humphries will soon get the satisfaction of facing off with Kim in court. “Kim could be seven or eight months pregnant,” says the confidant. “And she’ll have to go into court and explain her love for someone else.”

Also featured in the issue are all of the details on the fight that led to Taylor Swift and Harry Styles’ split. Harry Styles’ Christmas gift to Taylor Swift, his girlfriend of six weeks, was a romantic Caribbean getaway. “The trip was a surprise,” says a Swift source. “He planned it and whisked her away.” And promptly broke her heart. The country darling, 23, and the One Direction heartthrob, 18, had a massive argument in the late hours of January 3. After two days of nonstop togetherness, Styles wanted a few moments alone the evening of January 3 — and headed off to a local bar. Explains the Swift source, “He got drunk and left Taylor on their boat for a few hours without telling her where he was going.” When Styles returned, he found Swift “crying and furious,” says the confidant. Styles’ attempts to explain fell on deaf ears. “She called him a d--k and accused him of running around with girls,” continues the Swift source. “But he didn’t do anything wrong!” With no resolution, the pair went to bed angry and come morning, she made a decision: to catch the first flight home. “She wanted to teach Harry a lesson,” says the friend. “She expected him to call and apologize. He didn’t.”

Mother of the year Britney Spears

Britney Spears' lawyer is allegedly threatening to quit the singer's custody battle, it has been reported. The singer's attorney Laura Wasser is planning to resign in the midst of Britney's bitter legal fight with ex-husband Kevin Federline. A source told gossip website "Laura has put Britney in touch with other lawyers who could help her in her ongoing custody battle with Kevin, but Britney has become so reliant on Laura she doesn't like any of the alternatives. Britney will be devastated if she and Laura part company. This could be a real blow to her case."Wasser, who has previously worked for Angelina Jolie and Nick Lachey, represented Britney in her divorce from Kevin, which was completed last month. The lawyer won Britney equal custody of the couple's sons, 23-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month-old Jayden James. The singer was seen fleeing from Wasser's office in tears last week after a meeting to discuss the case. Kevin is demanding full custody of their sons and Wasser is believed to have warned Britney to put and end to her wild partying and bizarre behaviour or risk losing her children. The 25-year-old singer is now said to be compiling a dossier of information about her ex-husband in a bid to convince the courts she should have her sons full-time.A source said: "It's not just Kevin's partying and gambling, there are all sorts of things she thinks her lawyers should know about. She may not be perfect, but she is determined to show he is not a model parent either."The case is due to be heard at Los Angeles' Superior Court on September 17.

David Hasselhoff has been granted primary custody of his two daughters.Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas awarded the former 'Baywatch' actor sole physical custody of his children, Taylor-Ann, 17, and Hayley, 14, on Friday. Hasselhoff left the courthouse smiling, saying it was "a beautiful day to go to the beach". He added: "The judge said today, 'Enough - enough is enough, these children have been through enough."The 54-year-old star's ex-wife Pamela Bach has been told she can visit her daughters on alternate weekends and on Wednesday nights for dinner. Hasselhoff's attorney Melvin S. Goldsman said: "If, down the road, the kids are comfortable seeing her more, Mr. Hasselhoff has said he will let his children see their mother as often as they want to."Bach, 42, was seen crying in a hallway of the courthouse, and reportedly overheard sobbing to her lawyer "I just lost my kids".The pair's bitter and lengthy court battle began in January 2006, when they both independently filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage. They divorced last August. In May, the 'America's Got Talent' judge was temporarily barred from visiting his daughters following the emergence of a videotape of him drinking Taylor-Ann's presence. The footage, which surfaced on the Internet, showed Hasselhoff rolling around shirtless on the floor trying to eat a hamburger. The judge reinstated his visitation rights late last month.

Gender bender Marilyn Manson with Dita Von Teese

Marilyn Manson's ex-wife Dita Von Teese has revealed she filed for divorce from the shock rocker when an "inappropriate relationship" with another woman became too much for her to handle. The burlesque dancer refuses to mention any names but Manson's relationship with actress Evan Rachel Wood has been linked to his split from his wife. Von Teese tells Britain's Sunday Telegraph, "I get the impression he thinks I was unsupportive. But the truth is I wasn't supportive of his lifestyle, and someone else came along who was." Von Teese filed for divorce in December, a year after she and Manson, 38, wed in Ireland. She adds, "Everything went downhill after we got married. I started working a lot to escape my home life. "I left with nothing. I knew that there was an inappropriate relationship going on ... and I didn't want any part of it around to remind me. I didn't want that sofa. I didn't want that bed."

Whitney Houston has been awarded custody of her daughter in her divorce from Bobby Brown. The 'I Will Always Love You' singer's divorce was approved yesterday by Judge Franz E. Miller in California's Orange County court and will be finalised on April 24. Whitney, 43, will have custody of 14-year-old Bobbi Christina, her daughter with 40-year-old R'n'B star Bobby. The singer dabbed her eyes with a tissue during the hearing and declined to comment on the proceedings as she left the courthouse. Bobby's lawyer said the 'My Prerogative' singer will file a petition to overturn the judge's decision.Whitney initially filed for legal separation from Bobby on September 8 last year and then followed with a divorce request in October. But on December 28, she requested a default judgment to fast-track the dissolution of the marriage. The couple married in 1992 when Whitney was at the height of her success. During their marriage Bobby has been arrested for drugs and alcohol related charges and Whitney has twice entered rehab to be treated for addiction to crack cocaine. Since their separation she has been recording a new album with J Records president Clive Davis in Los Angeles. Despite their split, Whitney and Bobby have been seen together on several occasions dining with their daughter.

Heather Mills has had a rubber leg fitted for her performances on 'Dancing with the Stars'.The former model - who lost her left leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident - has had the prosthetic limb specially made to give her more flexibility on the US TV dance contest. After performing the jive with her new leg, judge Bruno Tonioli told her:"One, two, three legs, I don't care how many - you did a fantastic job."Meanwhile, Heather broke down on a US radio show after being praised by a caller. The estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, who appeared as a guest on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM morning radio show, was reduced to tears after hearing the kind words. The listener, named Pat, said: "I'm ashamed that I had a judgment against you based on everything you read in the newspapers, that you were after his money, and, come on - everyone was down on Heather Mills."But you have won me over, and I can admit it, I had formed a bad opinion about you. I am embarrassed, actually. I would love to apologise. And America should apologise. People should apologise. You were wrongfully treated."Heather sobbed as she replied: "That makes me feel emotional. That's great."Heather added: "I could have gone down that path of lowering myself to everyone else's level and proven my innocence."All I did was fall in love with somebody madly, and give up my life for seven years. Britney Spears spent her first weekend as a new divorcee in Las Vegas, dining with close friends. The fallen pop superstar finalized her divorce from rapper Kevin Federline last week and took off to Sin City for a low-key weekend. The post-rehab Spears dined at Tao Asian Bistro on Saturday night with two female friends, and made it clear her partying days are over -- even in Las Vegas. A fellow diner who spotted the party says, "Britney was dressed casual, wearing a light coat, hat and blonde wig. She and her friends ate vegetable dumplings, hot edamame, a California roll, and they split a wasabi filet. "This wasn't a wild night out. Britney drank Pepsi and the girls were in and out in about an hour. Britney seemed very happy."

Heather Mills Will Be Dancing With Jonathan Roberts Next Week On 'Dancing With The Stars'

Heather Mills says there is a "conspiracy" to destroy her.The former model insists the British media have been trying to ruin her career, personal life and reputation since she split from Sir Paul McCartney. In an interview with the BBC, Heather - who has a three-year-old daughter Beatrice, with Paul - said: "There is a huge agenda about trying to destroy me and put me down."There are huge powers. I don't have that powerful system that Paul has. There are huge powers that create these things for their own reasons. I have a daughter to protect and I don't want to speak badly about any of the parties involved."Since the couple announced they were separating in May 2006, reports have surfaced about Heather posing naked for a sex book, allegedly working as a high-class prostitute and wearing fur in 1989, despite the fact she is now an animal rights activist. Heather, 38, also confessed she will "always love" Paul, 64, despite their bitter divorce battle. She said: "I will never get over him. I will always love Paul. He is the father of my child but I just have to move on and deal with it and there is nothing I can do. I have never spoken badly about my husband. I never will -he is the father of my child."Heather also denied reports the couple have reached a divorce settlement said to be worth 60 million. The blond - who reportedly wanted 400 million, a quarter of The Beatles legend's total wealth when they first split - added: "You better ask Paul, it's got nothing to do with me. It's all down to him."

Paul McCartney And Heather Mills

Sir Paul McCartney is desperate to end his divorce battle with Heather Mills. The Beatles legend has spoken for the first time about his High Court battle with Heather, saying he wants the divorce to be finalised quickly.Paul said: "I'm hoping it'll soon be over."The 64-year-old musician insists last week's two-fingered 'victory' sign outside the court house wasn't a sign the case is going his way. Paul said: "I always do that. But that's what it's all about - peace on earth."Paul and Heather, 39, attended a private hearing last week which reportedly examined Heather's claims that Paul was physically violent towards her during their four-year marriage. The former model emerged grim faced from the London court, sparking reports her claims had been thrown out. Meanwhile, Heather returned to court yesterday for an emergency application reportedly involving the couple's three-year-old daughter Beatrice. She represented herself during the 30-minute hearing, but refused to reveal what was discussed. As she left the court, Heather snapped: "I have nothing to say. I do not talk to the press. I never have and never will."When she was pressed to comment on the emergency hearing, Heather fumed:"Are you hard of hearing? You have got ears haven't you? I have nothing to say."

Heather Mills' accusations of marital abuse were dismissed in court the other day. Heather and Sir Paul McCartney appeared at London's High Court to determine if Heather's allegations regarding Paul's aggressive behaviour could be used in the divorce battle. Last year, leaked legal papers revealed Heather had accused Paul of pushing her into a bath while pregnant, trying to choke her in 2003, pouring wine over her and stabbing her in the arm with a broken wine glass. She also claimed Paul drank and took drugs excessively during their marriage. The 64-year-old Beatles legend has always denied the allegations. Heather, 39, was seen storming from the court after a judge threw out many of the claims, while a smiling Paul emerged 20 minutes later. When asked if he had anything to say about the hearing, he said: "No, but nice of you to ask. Thank you."Heather, who is said to have rejected a $50 million offer from Paul last month, was accompanied by her solicitor Anthony Julius. The pair, who did not speak throughout the hearing, were not required to give evidence. It is not known if the custody of the couple's three-year-old daughter Beatrice was discussed at the hearing.

Britney Spears Made No 'Promises' And Left

Britney Spears Out Of Rehab Again.... Troubled pop star Britney Spears has reportedly left a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California, less than 24 hours after checking in. This is the second time in a week that the Toxic star has left a treatment centre after less than one day - according to news website , Spears left Promises Treatment Center early yesterday morning. According to further media reports, Spears tried to get into a tattoo parlour before returning to her home, but the shop was closed. On Friday, she shaved her head bald at a hair salon and then hit the Body & Soul Tattoo parlor in Sherman Oaks, California, where she got a pink, black and white cross on her hip and pink and red lips on her wrist. She checked herself into Crossroads Centre, a treatment facility founded by musician Eric Clapton last Wednesday, only to check out the following day. Meanwhile, according to Tmz, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (Dcfs) has received numerous phone calls to their hotline from people concerned about the welfare of Spears' children in light of her recent bizarre behaviour. Spears is the mother to two young sons, Sean Preston, 18 months and Jayden James, five months. The Dcfs provides a 24-hour phone number for any resident in the Los Angeles area to report or discuss any issue regarding children.Meanwhile it was revealed the Pop star met with a lawyer in West Hollywood, California yesterday afternoon, after checking out of a Malibu rehab facility earlier in the day. This is the second time the troubled 25-year-old has left a treatment centre in the last week. The Toxic star was spotted at the law office of Blair Berk, a high-powered criminal defence lawyer, who also represented Mel Gibson last year (06) after his drink driving arrest. Sources tell American publication Us Weekly Spears was seen outside the office sitting in the passenger seat of a blue Mercedes talking intensely on her mobile phone, while her cousin, Allie Sims, reportedly sobbed. An eyewitness says, "Brit smoked cigarettes and talked on the phone, while Allie was seen with tears streaming down her face. Brit just had a blank look on her face." Spears left the law office at 2pm (local time) and was driven down Los Angeles' Sunset Strip and dropped off at the Bel Air Hotel. On 15 February (07), the singer checked herself into Crossroads Centre, a treatment facility founded by musician Eric Clapton, and checked out less than 24 hours later. Yesterday (21 Feb 07) she left Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, also after less than 24 hours.
Meanwhile, her estranged husband was making plans to go to court amid a custody dispute over their two children. Kevin Federline and his lawyer were scheduled to appear at a downtown courthouse Thursday for an emergency hearing in family law court, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press. "Our best information is he will be here; she won't," said Parachini. "But anything is possible." It was not known what Federline intended to ask the court. He sought support and sole custody of Jayden James, 5 months, and Sean Preston, 17 months, after Spears moved to end their two-year marriage in November, but a temporary order issued Feb. 1 granted joint custody through this month. Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, did not return a call for comment. Parachini said Federline's lawyer would try to persuade a Superior Court commissioner that the matter is urgent enough to be handled on an expedited basis. The move comes amid increasingly bizarre behavior by Spears. Popping in and out of rehab centers around the world is not a smart move for someone involved in a child custody battle with her estranged husband, said New York-based family law attorney Joshua Forman, who is not involved in Spears' case. "That's ridiculous. Wherever you are and whatever your problem is, you go through the program the place offers and you do what they tell you to do," Forman told the AP. "Checking in and out for one day doesn't show the court anything." OK! magazine reported it has learned Spears fled rehab because she was worried Federline would move to obtain permanent custody of the couple's children while she was undergoing several weeks of treatment. Federline's agent, Allison Joyce, said the 28-year-old aspiring rapper and former backup dancer would have no comment.

Beatles Paul McCartney And Heather Mills

Heather Mills was devastated when animal rights group PETA dumped her without telling her.The former model was dropped by PETA earlier this month when Mary McCartney (left), the photographer daughter of Heather's estranged husband Sir Paul, threatened to stop working with them. Heather only found out about their decision when a friend told her. She said in an interview with US TV show 'Extra' : "My girlfriend called me,that's how I first heard, and said, 'I'm really, really sorry to hear the bad news.'"I was just shocked. I thought, 'Oh, God, what is this?' I felt really, really sad about it. They didn't send me a letter or call me up saying, 'We don't wish to work with you anymore.' "Mary told the organisation she would only continue working on their 'I would rather go naked that wear fur campaign' if they severed their ties with her estranged step-mother. A source said: "Mary was eager to take photographs for PETA, which she has done in the past, but wanted assurances that Heather no longer represented the group."Before Heather's split from Paul last year, the blonde regularly worked for PETA, protesting against Canadian seal culling and the fur trade. Heather, 39, even stripped off for PETA's 2007 calendar, but the photographs were dropped after her bitter divorce battle began.

Heather Mills has visited police to speak about "a number of issues". Heather, the estranged wife of Sir Paul McCartney, is thought to have discussed harassment and death threats at Brighton's Hove police the other day. A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "It was a pre-planned meeting for her to discuss a number of issues. The meeting did not relate to anything specific and she was not arrested."Heather's representative Phil Hall confirmed she has been in constant talks with police over death threats received since separating from Paul, 64. Hall said: "She doesn't want to talk about it. She has been subject to death threats and there has been on going communication with Sussex Police about that. I imagine it's to do with that."Heather was accompanied by her personal trainer Ben Amigoni and her sister Fiona. Last month, Fiona made an appeal to end the "harassment" of her family and said she was "deeply concerned" for her sister's safety following "scary"death threats. In December, Heather, 38, revealed she feared for the safety of herself and her three-year-old daughter Beatrice. The former model also claimed she had little money to pay for security, and was furious that Paul refused to foot the bill.
