The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) along with luminaries in cuisine, fashion and real estate whom the Foundation will honor at the 15th Annual Hamptons Happening charity fundraiser, rang the Closing Bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square the other day.

Celebrity chef and Emmy-Award winner Lidia Bastianich, acclaimed fashion designer Nicole Miller, restaurateur Ian Duke, and real estate entrepreneur Antonella Bertello joined SWCRF founder and CEO, Samuel Waxman, MD and more than 30 supporters, board members and staff at NASDAQ.

Bastianich, Miller, Duke, and Bertello will receive honor awards for their support of cancer research at the annual food and wine event this Saturday, July 13, 2019, in Bridgehampton, NY, an annual and popular summer fundraiser held in the Hamptons hosted by the SWCRF.

“These inspirational and accomplished individuals have made extraordinary professional achievements in their respective fields, and we are thrilled that they are participating in this year’s Hamptons Happening event. They have contributed both their time, resources, and expertise to collaborate with us and supporting our research that seeks to correct abnormal gene functions that cause cancer and develop less-toxic treatments,” said Dr. Waxman.

“Years ago, I participated in ringing the NASDAQ opening bell and I now rang the closing one! It’s especially important for me since this time I will be with my dear friends from the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. We applaud the Foundation’s cutting-edge work with the science community to shut down the DNA of cancer,” said Lidia Bastianich.

“I am thrilled to join Dr. Waxman in ringing the NASDAQ closing bell. The organization’s funding for innovative research is leading the cancer treatment revolution and has helped countless people living with cancer,” said fashion designer Nicole Miller.

“Cures for cancer does not happen without the work of such an amazing collaboration. I am delighted to join the Foundation in ringing the NASDAQ closing bell and bring awareness to their research. Every single one of us has a loved one who has been directly impacted by the research and work done by the foundation,” said Ian Duke.

“I am truly honored and thrilled to join the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation in ringing the NASDAQ closing bell. I know we have all been deeply affected by this disease and I could not be more pleased and happier to help bring visibility to their innovative research,” said Antonella Bertello.

It was the fourth consecutive year that NASDAQ had invited the SWCRF to participate in its market bell ceremonies. Chris Dearborn, Managing Director, Market Intelligence Desk at NASDAQ introduced Dr. Waxman who made brief remarks preceding the closing bell ceremony.
