Sofia Vergara covers the Summer ’15 issue of Cosmo for Latinas, on newsstands May 19. The Modern Family star, who headlines this weekend’s Hot Pursuit alongside Reese Witherspoon, opens up to the magazine about starting a family with fiancée Joe Manganiello, why she won’t have a maid of honor at her wedding, and how she feels about roles for Latina women in Hollywood.

On starting a family with fiancée Joe Manganiello:

“When you’re with somebody that hasn’t had kids, and you want to start a relationship, of course there’s always that question. And if it happens, it will be something that will make us very happy, but it’s not a priority in our lives.”

On why she won’t have a maid of honor at her wedding:

“In Latin America we don’t have bridesmaids, we only have flower girls.”

On what she’s most proud of in her life:

“My son [22-year-old, Manolo]. I think it’s so hard to raise kids nowadays and he has grown up to be so respectful and responsible.”

On being a Latina in Hollywood:

“There aren’t as many roles for Latinas as we would want there to be, but we shouldn’t be complaining because a Latin girl just won a Golden Globe, a Latin director just won an Oscar. We should be very happy that there are people out there who are doing things and being recognized.”

On fame:

“Sometimes you want fame to go away a little bit, because you want to do normal things. I think I’m old enough that I’ve already enjoyed all of it, so if it goes away, I think I’m still going to be OK. It was never really what I was looking for — it wasn’t even being an actress or being famous — it was just supporting myself and making money and doing a business for myself.”

Reese Witherspoon on starring alongside Sofia in Hot Pursuit:

“Sofia has the most incredible comic timing. Her sense of humor is completely based on making fun of her sexy Latin image and people love her for that. It's one thing to be as beautiful as she is, it is another to know how to make everyone fall in love with you. And you do fall in love with her. She is just so warm and charming. It is her nature to make you immediately want to be her best friend.”
