Joey Healy

A shrewd entrepreneur knows how to identify and exploit untapped niches in major markets. In the United States, the beauty and cosmetics is a $53.7 billion industry, making up roughly 14.2% of the market. Globally, sales reach over $170 billion. It is often difficult for the little guys to compete against the Revlons and Ultas of the world, but Joey Healy, a 27 year old New York City based professional makeup artist and licensed esthetician is doing just that by focusing on a very specific niche in the market—luxury eyebrow styling.

Joey realized his passion for the beauty industry at a young age. As an undergraduate at Villanova University, Joey was wardrobe manager for the theatre department, where he learned the art of color, makeup, and design. Once he graduated with a degree in marketing he was poised to start his own company, but lacked the real world experience it takes to launch a business.

After college, Joey worked in retail at the cosmetics counters in leading department stores Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, and Barneys New York, where he was able to connect with his clients and assess their wants and needs. He saw the packaging and products that were most intriguing to them and used this knowledge in creating the look of the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection. It was also in these positions that Joey learned the art of exceptional customer service.

Realizing that affluent customers would prefer a personal service to the cheap and unsanitary mass waxing and eyebrow salons littering Manhattan, Joey launched a mobile eyebrow styling service in late 2009. Combining his artistic talents with his keen eye and love of science, Joey developed and launched the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection. With shipping available on, men and women around the world are able to experience the quality of the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection products.

Capitalizing on the tremendous success of both his traveling studio and cosmetics line, Joey planted his roots and opened a permanent studio on 5th Avenue in December of 2012. At the time it was the first “eyebrow bar” in New York. Joey offers eyebrow shaping, eyebrow tinting, eyebrow blueprint (shaping & tinting), event makeup, and makeup lessons in his studio.

Joey’s eponymous makeup line and intimate 5th Avenue studio has made him a favorite among celebrities and well-known companies including Kyra Sedgwick, Real Housewives of New York Aviva Drescher, Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin and Carole Radziwill, Bebe Neuwirth, Carly Rose Sonenclar (runner-up on the second season of the American version of the The X Factor), Andy Cohen of Watch What Happens Live, Chaske Spencer of Twilight, Gretchen Jones (season 8 winner of Project Runway), Devyn (winner of The Face), Sean Young of Blade Runner, the New York City Ballet, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bravo!, Neiman Marcus, Dress for Success, MTV, and many more.
