WHY TAYLOR SWIFT CAN NOT FIND HER LOVE

The Taylor Swift Cover

The cover story of the new issue of Us Weekly is all about how Taylor Swift sings her heart out about love and relationships, but can’t seem to hold onto one. Her split from Conor Kennedy, an 18-year-old high school senior, is just the latest in a long line of raw, public breakups with men, including Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer. Though her heartache makes for superb Top 40 fare, “all Taylor wants is to be loved,” says one friend.

Most every weekend, Swift shuttled on her private jet from Nashville to New England, where she sailed with his family and frolicked on beaches in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. When summer ended, so did the romance. “How was she supposed to date a guy still in school while she’s f lying around promoting her album and getting her tour ready?” says a close source. It’s a problem she’s grappled with since 2006. “She’s a prisoner of her work,” says the close source. “It takes up all of her time.”

“Taylor works her tail off,” Reba McEntire tells Us. “I think she is the hardest-working person in the music business, pe riod. I just love her to pieces.” While McEntire may admire Swift’s gumption, it can grow tiresome for the men who date the star. Says a friend, “Guys don’t want to be sitting around waiting with a rose when she gets off a plane every other month.”

There is hope, however. Each of Swift’s breakups is not only fodder for song, but a chance to learn from what went wrong. Says a Swift source, “Love is not a reality for her yet, but she knows it will happen.”

ELECTRA’S EX: COWELL IS COOL

Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra is playing coy about her romance with Simon Cowell, telling Access Hollywood Live November 5 that “maybe!” the two have spent the night together. Her ex-husband, however, isn’t as tight-lipped. Dave Navaro, 45, who split with Electra, 40, in 2006, tells Hot Stuff that Cowell, 53, “seems to be a great match for her.” Better, at least, than her former fiance, Rob Patterson, 42. “Normally, I’d say how great it is to see her with a guy who has his s—t together for a change,” he cracks. “But I’m not going to do that!”

J.P. AND ASHLEY: THEY PICKED OUT RINGS!

Bring on the bling! a Bachelorette source tells Hot Stuff that season 7 couple Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum picked out wedding bands at Neil Lane in Los Angeles on November 5. “They walked in holding hands and smiling,” says a witness of the twosome, who cemented their May 2011 engagement in Fiji with a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond, also by Neil Lane. (The proposal aired that August on the finale.) The 19-month countdown to their December I do’s — set to air on ABC — has only reinforced their romance. While the University of Pennsylvania dental school grad, 28, and the NYC construction manager, 35, waited outside for their appointment (and TV cameras rolled), they shared a sweet moment. “Ashley stood with her arms resting over his shoulders,” says the witness. “And he gave her a tender kiss.”

EMILY BOUNCES BACK: ANOTHER NASCAR GUY!

Maynard was “all over” her new racer beau at a concert

Emily Maynard is revving up her dating life! Just three weeks after officially splitting from her Bachelorette fiancé of five months, Jef Holm, 28, the reality star was spotted getting cozy with a new man: Nascar truck racer Jason White, 33. “They were all over each other,” says a witness who saw the single mom, 26, and the Richmond, Virginia–bred driver on a group date at the November 3 Carrie Underwood concert in Charlotte, North Carolina. “Jason guided her through the crowd and held her hand as they walked downstairs.” (They later ventured off à deux to the club Suite, a source tells Hot Stuff.) White is, of course, not the first racer she’s romanced. The late Ricky Hendrick, her first fiancé and dad of her daughter, Ricki, 7, was a Nascar driver, and she was linked with Dale Earnhardt Jr., 38, in 2006. “Emily tried something new, dating Jef,” says a pal. “She is going to go back to what she knows and considers safe.”
