Taylor Swift Home

Throughout 2017, many of the world's superstars tried to sell their glamorous mansions and compounds. From Beverly Hills to Florida and New York City, there was a celebrity property for almost anyone who is extremely wealthy.

“Taylor Swift Restores Samuel Goldwyn Mansion”

America’s #1 sweetheart, Taylor Swift, is one of the world’s richest celebrities with estimated career earnings from her music, concerts, acting and endorsements approaching $800 million. What to do with all that money? Taylor has invested much of it in real estate with homes in New York City, Rhode Island, Nashville and her most recent purchase of Samuel Goldwyn’s mansion in Beverly Hills. Included are a library-screening room, a guest suite with a private entrance on the home’s main level, a library, card room, gym and an additional private guest apartment above the garage. The master suite has a veranda that overlooks the city lights. Outside is a swimming pool and pool house with kitchenette and sunken tennis courts.

Goldwyn (1879-1974) founded award-winning Goldwyn Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn Productions - now known as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer with the famous roaring lion head logo. In recognition of Goldwyn’s historical contributions to the film industry, Taylor sought and achieved landmark status for her new home to ensure its preservation for future generations of movie fans. Her home is now an official Beverly Hills city landmark.

Since purchasing the home in 2015, Swift has worked closely with architects to bring the estate back close to its condition that existed in 1934 when it was built for Goldwyn and his wife, Frances. The home was a neighborhood destination for many of the era’s Hollywood stars including Clark Gable and Charlie Chaplin and used by Sam as collateral for several of his films including Wuthering Heights and his 1946 Oscar-winner The Best Years of Our Lives. After he died in 1994, the home stayed in the Goldwyn family for over 80 years until Taylor purchased it from the estate of Goldwyn’s son for $25 million.

“Ellen DeGeneres's Montecito Flip”

Ellen DeGeneres is well known for her endless energy dancing up and down the aisles of her TV show studios, headlining numerous Hollywood award shows and her frequent charity work and performances. In her spare time, Ellen is by far the #1 celebrity home flipper leaving her competitors such as Jennifer Aniston, Meg Ryan and Diane Keaton in the leftover construction dust.

Ellen and her wife, Australian–American actress Portia de Rossi’s latest real estate investment and a predominant subject in Ellen’s book, Home, is an expansive house and grounds on a Montecito, California hill overlooking the ocean and mountains and also next door to Oprah. Known as “The Villa,” it was designed by noted architect Wallace Frost after returning from Italy. Entranced by 17th-century Italian villas, this was the home he envisioned and built for himself and his family, which he replicated with great accuracy. Ellen and Portia purchased the estate in May 2013 for $26.5 million and expanded it through the acquisition of two adjacent properties, which now totals 16.88 acres. The 10,500-square-foot home includes six bedrooms, eight baths, nine fireplaces, multiple libraries, a marble-wrapped chef’s kitchen and formal rooms. An indoor-outdoor entertaining pavilion was built from stone excavated on-site with hand-made iron windows. The couple also added a lap pool, sunken championship tennis court and installed state-of-the-art irrigation, mechanical, electronic and security systems. Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty in Santa Barbara, California is the listing agent.

Ellen’s 1930’s Italian villa is for sale; originally priced at $45 million, it has been reduced to $39.5 million.

“Johnny Carson's Longtime Beach Home”

Unequaled late-night talk show host Johnny Carson was a standout among entertainers, to which his 30-year longevity on air is testament. Though three preceded him in the genre: Arthur Godfrey, Steve Allen and Jack Parr, it was Carson who became - and still is - the icon of late-night talk shows. He sent Americans to bed each night with a smile on their faces and was instrumental in boosting the careers of many entertainers we still enjoy today including Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Roseanne Barr, David Letterman and Jay Leno.

After he moved his show from New York City to Burbank in 1972, Carson loved to play golf and for a number of years owned a home in Bel Air. However, in the mid 1980s he bought a four-acre, cliff-top home above the celebrity-studded Point Dume community in Malibu overlooking the Pacific Ocean where he lived with third wife, Alexis, until his death in 2005. The house, designed by architect Ed Niles, is a study in wood beams, glass and indoor landscaping that blurs the line between indoors and out. On the grounds are championship tennis courts with a pavilion that has two bedrooms, kitchen, gym and locker room, a waterfall and koi pond, and another separate guest house. After Carson’s death in 2005, Alexis continued to live there for two more years before selling to film producer Sidney Kimmel and his wife, Caroline. The Kimmels restored it to its original plan and have recently put it on the market for $81.5 million. Chris.Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker, Malibu West, California is the listing agent.

“Elvis And Priscilla Presley's Palm Springs Honeymoon Love Nest”

Elvis Presley met Priscilla in Bad Nauheim, Germany in 1959 during his service in the Army when she was only 14-years-old, the daughter of an Army officer and his wife who had taken Priscilla with them to a party at Elvis’s home. Although she was only 14, Elvis couldn’t get her out of his mind and their budding relationship turned into a marriage proposal just before Christmas in 1966 - seven years later. They were married at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas in May, 1967. Elvis leased The House of Tomorrow as their honeymoon house on a one-year lease for $21,000 and their child, Lisa Marie, was born exactly nine months later. The home was designed by modernist architect William Krisel and featured in a 1962 Look magazine article as “The House of Tomorrow.”

Futuristic even for today, the mid-century-modern round house is on the market with walls of glass overlooking a secluded pool terrace and views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The 5,000-square-foot house has five bedrooms and five baths and comes with 1.16 acres of land with private garden, tennis court and orchard in addition to the swimming pool. Mary Kay Nibley of Rodeo Realty, Beverly Hills, California is the listing agent.

Now for sale at $5.9 million, the House of the Future is also well-known as the honeymoon hideaway of the King of Rock ‘n Roll which he leased in 1966-1967.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's relationship appears to be moving forward even faster than originally thought.

Less than a month after they made their romance public, the 26-year-old pop star sees the 35-year-old Thor actor as husband material and the two have also talked about their desire to have kids one day, a source told E! News exclusively Sunday.

"This is the kind of a man she would want to marry," the source said. "She has said he would make a great dad. They have talked about what they want in the future and kids are something that they would both like down the line. They have very real and serious conversations about life."

Swift, the source added, likes Hiddleston's "English ways."

"She has told me that she loves his accent and thinks he is so sexy," the source said. "He acts very English. He is also a big tea drinker."

The two made their romance public, without previous rumors, when they were photographed kissing near her Rhode Island beach house in mid-June. Less than two weeks later, they hung out with each other's parents in Nashville and England. The jet-setting couple then flew back to Rhode Island for Swift's star-studded Fourth of July party, where they packed on the PDA again.

Earlier this week, they traveled to Australia, where Hiddleston is filming Thor: Ragnarok, the third movie in the series, in which he reprises his role as Loki. The lovebirds were spotted looking cozy again Sunday, walking hand-in-hand en route to a dinner date. Swift wore a plunging Swift wore a plunging black and white floral high-low wrap dress, while Hiddleston sported a black shirt with the sleeves rolled above his elbows, matching pants and gray shoes.

Another source told E! News Swift "loves traveling with Tom," who "makes her feel so safe."

"They are the real deal," the source said. "They laugh and travel well together. These past few weeks, they have learned many things about each other...she is getting very attached."

"Tom gives Tay more attention than any other man she has ever been with," the source added. "She likes his maturity. a very romantic and charming gentleman."

An insider had told E! News after Swift's Fourth of July party the singer's "squad" of female friends "all really like Tom and like how he treats Taylor" and that while "things are moving fast between them," her friends are not worried "because they never have seen her this happy."

"Tay can't stop talking about Tom," the second source told E! News Sunday. "It's an ongoing conversation with the girls on how happy she is. Tay has mentioned numerous times how 'in love' with each other they are."

During their time in Australia, the two have been staying in a top suite at a 5-star hotel and have enjoyed walking around the beach together, despite the chilly weather, as it is winter in the country. Hiddleston was also spotted jogging on the shore Saturday, without Swift.

"They have been very kind to the staff at the hotel," a third source told E! News. "It looked like they had a little down time together and have walked out together a few times since they have checked in. Tom is very active and wakes up early for workouts and runs on the beach."

Taylor Swift

Double dates are fun, but one-on-one is where the sparks can really fly!

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston might know a little something about this. Last night, the new couple went on a romantic dinner date to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in downtown Nashville, and E! News has exclusive photos and details from their "intimate" night out.

Taylor, 26, and Tom, 35, "seemed very comfortable with each other," says an onlooker. Unlike the previous night of dancing at Selena Gomez's concert alongside Taylor's longtime BFF Abigail and her boyfriend, Wednesday night "was an intimate solo dinner date."

The singer and Thor star were seated in a small area off to one side of the main restaurant which seemed to be more private than the general dining area. Taylor and Tom "were by themselves on the date, but surrounded by security," says an onlooker.

Tom Hiddleston

At the end of the evening, The lovebirds walked out of Ruth's Chris holding hands. And, like a complete gentleman, Tom opened the car door for Taylor and made sure she got into the vehicle safely. From there, they were driven away by security.

It's all sounding like a celebrity fairytale, isn't it? Well, a source tells E! News Taylor was hesitant to get involved so quickly" with someone after her Calvin Harris breakup. But with Tom, "there was an immediate attraction." Taylor "is not on rebound mode," notes a source, "even though Tom questioned it a little when they first started talking."

Clearly, both parties involved seem to have overcome any initial reservations about this budding romance. "Tom wants to be with Taylor," a source tells E! News, saying the new couple is "already very attached" and "text all the time."

One source tells E! News Taylor already thinks Tom could possibly be "the one, as odd as new as it sounds."

Taylor Swift

Well, in case there was any question, things are definitely getting serious between Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris.

E! News has exclusively learned that the famous Hollywood couple (who continue to be the embodiment of #relationshipgoals with their cuteness) have been shacking up under one roof and talking about possibly taking things to the next level.

"Now that her tour is over, they are living together at his house in Beverly Hills while she is having some work done on her new home (she was staying there in between tour dates too, but now she is back for longer and it will be more consistent)," a source tells E! News.

"They are definitely talking about their future together and the possibility of one day getting engaged. Making it work, despite their huge demanding schedules, and her tour, has proved to both of them that this is something that is serious and that could last. It's really cemented their commitment to one another."

Say whaaaa?! Color us excited!

As you might have already known, the pair spent the holidays together, enjoying the snow for Christmas and heading to Las Vegas for the New Year. "They were in Colorado for Christmas together with Taylor's family. It was all about being in the snow, snow ball fights, lounging by the fire and relaxing," the insider adds. "After Christmas they came back to LA together and rang in the New Year."

Swift rang in the New Year by partying alongside Ruby Rose, HAIM, and brother Austin Swift at the OMNIA nightclub outside Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas to root on her boyfriend as he helped people enter 2016 while behind the turntables.

Now, it seems like Harris is focusing on his health and fitness for 2016. The music producer posted a story on his Snapchat that showed himself topless and sweaty while peddling on a stationary bike to get in his cardio. The workout seemed to include a virtual bike path that helped illustrate a funny competition between Calvin and the other "riders."

"How's that motivational in any way? That's f--king terrifying," he said while showing a large animated man on the screen. "It's the fourth day of the year, and this is what's going to happen...See ya later guys," he says to the bikers, "See ya at the finish line, you stupid c--ts. This is how to lose weight. You just sit down and you pedal. And you pedal 'til you can't pedal anymore."

Or as Taylor would say, pedal until you're lying on the cold, hard ground.

Ben Affleck

E! News can exclusively reveal that the recently single Ben Affleck took his two daughters—Violet Affleck, 9, and Seraphina Affleck, 6—to attend Taylor Swift 's fifth and final concert at the Staples Center in L.A. Wednesday night. "They all had a great time," a source says of the Afflecks. "This was something they really wanted to do."

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star, 43, scored extra cool points when they went backstage to meet Taylor. "Everyone was ecstatic!" the source says of meeting the "Shake It Off" singer. "He was excited," the source adds, "as were they."

Taylor asked several stars to join her on stage. While Ben wasn't among them, she sang "Good for You" with Selena Gomez, "Smelly Cat" with Lisa Kudrow and "Mirrors" with Justin Timberlake. "They all had a great time," the source says of Ben and his family, adding that it was "made even better by JT's appearance."

(Ben and Justin, of course, co-starred in 2013's Runner Runner.)

In addition to Ben and his daughters, other famous attendees who were spotted at the concert Wednesday included Miranda Cosgrove, Nina Dobrev, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Calvin Harris, Julianne Hough, Jaime King, Lauren Paul, Ruby Rose,Emma Stone, Zelda Williams and Reese Witherspoon, among many others.

Taylor's 1989 World Tour resumes Saturday at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.

Ben, meanwhile, has spent a good portion of the summer in Atlanta, where his ex,Jennifer Garner, has been filming the movie Miracles From Heaven. In June, the actors announced plans to divorce after 10 years of marriage.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," Ben and Jennifer told E! News in a statement. "This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."

The exes—who also have a 3-year-old son, Samuel Affleck—have continued to participate in family outings post-split. In July, allegations surfaced that Ben had an affair with the children's 28-year-old nanny, Christine Ouzounian, who no longer works for the family. The actor, for his part, has strongly denied the allegations.

Taylor Swift

E! NEWS -- Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are quickly landing in the top spot of our relationship goals.

Taylor Swift

E! News Melanie Bromley -- A few weeks ago, Taylor Swift and her new boyfriend Calvin Harris held a very special dinner party at his $15 million Hollywood Hills estate. The invite list was tiny. Handpicked, with only trusted friends at the table. It was a sign of intimacy, and proof that Taylor's new romance is getting serious. "They were really happy together, " says a source. "They were sharing hosting responsibilities, it's cute!"

It's a far cry from the Taylor we've all come to grow and love over the past few years. After a string of failed relationships with Harry Styles, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal, she's become the poster child for heartache. The reformed serial dater hasn't been shy about it, using every snippet of experience to share details, through her music, about her famous mistakes. And from her lyrics, it didn't seem like Taylor was looking to settle down anytime soon.

But then she met Calvin Harris and somehow he was able to change the unlucky in love soundtrack she had on repeat. According to a source, when they bumped into each other at the Brit Awards in London in February, "He was immediately smitten."

Clandestine meetups at his super-private house in Beverly Hills followed. Giving them a safe place to get to know one another away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. And then, just weeks later, pictures of them emerged. They were shopping for groceries while wearing matching outfits, and holding hands at a concert. A new celebrity power couple was born.

Here are five reasons why Taylor may have finally found her Mr. Right.

1. They Have Crazy Chemistry: Let's try to forget for a moment that these two actually look like they could be twins. Both fair-haired, tall, same bone structure...picking a partner who is similar in looks is not unusual; it's a phenomenon psychologists obsess over.

And according to our well-placed insider, Taylor and Calvin just clicked. "When they bumped into each other at the Brit Awards, it was instant. They just seemed to get one another. Aside from the incredible chemistry, here was a woman that really understood Calvin's world and vice versa. She's funny and a good person and Calvin's very charismatic, it was like 'bam.'"

Justin Long

When Taylor Swift, Kate Upton, Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long gathered for a recent Knicks game, Long was caught humming the hit song, “Shake It Off” by none other than T-Swift herself, he told HuffPost Live.

Long: "At one point they were playing that song 'Shake It Off' -- that song, you all know it. It's one of those songs that really gets in your head, really crawls in there."

Long then began humming the tune, forgetting that Swift, who sings the song, was seated right next to him.

Long: "And of course she heard it. And she was like, 'Oh,' and sort of started laughing, and I was so embarrassed."

But Long insists that it wasn't just a ploy to impress New York's newest Global Welcome Ambassador.

Long: "I didn't do it so she would hear me. I wouldn't have done it had I been all that conscious of all that. But she was really sweet about it. She was, like, 'That's the whole point of the album!'"

Taylor Swift

MITCHELL'S GIRLS --- At the moment, the music world is all about the female vocalists and there is none bigger than Taylor Swift; she’s literally everywhere. It's almost like she could do anything but there is one thing that won't be on her list, playing Joni Mitchell.

Swift has admitted having affection for Mitchell's music but Joni doesn't seem to return the feelings. When word broke earlier this year that Swift was up for the role of Mitchell in the adaptation of the book Girls Like Us, Mitchell (Sheila Weller, 2009) quickly quashed the entire project.

The terrific book looks at music through the careers of Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon and plans were to bring it to the big screen. In an article in the London Sunday Times, Mitchell said "I squelched that! I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones'. It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes. There's a lot of nonsense about me in books: assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."

She also said in the interview that she sees herself now as a painter now and not a musician. "Music is over for me, pretty much. I can't sing: I don't want to. I want to paint, and I want to write. I can't tour, I can't travel, I'm sick; I can fly two flights a year. I'm old. You have to know when to give up."

Mitchell released a new four-CD compendium of her music this week, Love Has Many Faces: A Quartet, A Ballet, Waiting To Be Danced.

I'm saddened that Mitchell won't be making any new music but her catalog stands heads-and-tails above almost everything else. A true artist indeed.

THE FLASH --- As we noted Monday, one of the other DC-comics shows adaptations this year has been the CW 11’s The Flash; and, it’s been rather brilliant. From the casting to the writing and the special effects; for a change, it’s all top notch.

The episodes thus far have sort of followed the comic-story line, although this being the CW, it’s been imbued with an almost abnormal amount of youth. The great Jesse L. Martin, from Law & Order, shines as Detective Joe West, and Grant Gustin, late of Glee, shines as The Flash himself (aka Barry Allen). Tom Cavanagh, as the mysterious Harrison Wells, is just stellar.

Each episode so far has ended with a proper tease, or two, of upcoming shows and while it’s an innovative notion, it’s actually worked terrifically well.

Well’s particular accelerator has created several meta-humans (love that term!) and seemingly crippled him to a wheelchair. However, at the close of each episode he rises, walking, and activates an AI-machine called Gideon, which can seemingly predict the future.

Crazy I know, but I am enjoying this as much as anything on TV this season.

LEON DOWN BUT NOT OUT --- Leon Russell's band has had several of their instruments stolen from their bus while they slept just feet away.

The bus was parked in front of the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio Sunday night with the band asleep on the vehicle. A security camera captured the image of a man with graying hair and goatee wearing a San Antonio Spurs jersey picking the lock on the storage compartment on the side of the bus and making off with three guitars and a mandolin.

The equipment was valued at about $3,000 and included a Fender Stratocaster owned by guitarist Beau Charron. He told media that he had been playing the instrument for twenty years and had sentimental value as the first guitar he ever bought.

The show went on Sunday night with borrowed instruments in place of those taken.

Leon is out supporting his most recent, and final, album Life Journey.

CLOSING NOTES --- I woke up today thinking about Turkeys and boy, here’s one for sure: There’s this writer who has just released a book on an American icon, a true titan if you will, and he was approached by an indie-PR guy to do an quick holiday-oriented campaign for the book. Asked for his plan, he proffered a scenario whereby several online outlets would be approached as well as several traditional brick-and-mortar outlets. The writer nixed the plan as he felt his audience wasn't online. Not online … ever hear of cyber seniors? Poor choice. My own father before he passed was on that computer like a jackrabbit on lettuce. Needless to say, he missed a big op. His book last year on another Hollywood-Lothario came and went with a flash too. Too bad, nice guy but blinded by the light ...

Growing up in 1950’s California, young Anson William Heimlich showed very little promise. Clumsy, unsure of himself, and made to feel like a failure by his disappointed artist of a dad, Anson started working odd jobs as a teenager to help support his family. His boss at one of these jobs, an aging janitor named Willie, unexpectedly became a mentor—and the lessons he taught young Anson proved to be invaluable throughout his subsequent career as an actor, director, and entrepreneur.

In Singing to a Bulldog, Anson Williams (as he came to be known) relates both these lessons and the never-before-revealed stories of the many seminal TV series he has worked on and the famous (and not-so-famous) folks he’s encountered during his 40 years in Hollywood, including: being directed by Steven Spielberg in his first dramatic role ; getting kidnapped by Gerald Ford’s daughter at the White House ; being humbled by Sunny, a young volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy National Organization; mentoring Shailene Woodley on the set of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and many more. I loved this one …

 Have a safe Turkey Day...

Taylor Swift

SWIFT JUSTICE --- That was fast. Soon after pop star Taylor Swift announced last week that she was New York’s new Global Welcome Ambassador the backlash kicked in, as self-proclaimed New Yorkers expressed their, unhappiness with the Big Apple’s new pitch woman.

While the Tennessee-raised Swift now lives in downtown Manhattan and is a regular presence on New York City’s party circuit, she was taken to task for apparently not possessing enough grit.

"Does she know how much to add to a Metro Card to end up without a few cents trapped on it?" NY1 anchorman Pat Kiernan asked the Daily News. "Does she know which hot dog vendor sells the ‘Recession Special?’ Does she know that 44th Ave., 44th Rd. and 44th Dr. are all parallel streets in Queens? Does she know who Dr. Zizmor is?"

NYC and Co. (the city’s official tourist bureau) introduced its new ambassador with several videos featuring Swift helping to explain New York to tourists, such as by offering the correct pronunciation of Houston Street and defining what a bodega is.

The new campaign conveniently coincides with the release of Swift’s new single, "Welcome to New York," which celebrates the nation’s biggest and most diverse city. Still, that didn't stop people from posting negative comments on NYC and Co.’s Facebook page about bringing Swift on board to help sell New York City.

This may be another case of careful-what-you-wish-for when recruiting celebrity spokespeople or—and this gets our vote—there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Hey, we're writing about it!!!!

Indeed, the city’s tourism bureau should send thank-you notes to some of the New Yorkers who are now disparaging Swift as a spokesperson for New York City. The backlash is only going to get the decision more media impressions, more exposure and more opportunity to get the message out (and, the tourism bureau hopes, bring more out-of-town wallets to New York City).

The backlash even plays into why people are enamored by the Big Apple in the first place. People love to complain about complainers. Maybe true-Long Islanders like Seinfeld or Debbie Gibson, or Spike Lee and Alec Baldwin, might be better choices, but would they generate as much ink?

Call us crazy, but this may be all by design—and a lesson for communicators who are willing to suffer some criticism (all in good fun) if it means spreading the message. Hail Taylor!

OPEN DOORS --- Fans of The Doors will savor the never-before-released documentary film produced by the band, titled Feast of Friends; the intimate and rare look at the explosive rock band after 45 years, is finally being released.

Shelved due to lead singer Jim Morrison’s legal issues, the uncompleted film was only ever seen at a few film festivals and was never completed. Eagle Rock Entertainment and Doors Property, have painstakingly remastered the audio and video and compiled bonus footage as well as an historic British documentary called The Doors Are Open.

In April of 1968, filming began for what would become the first and only film produced about The Doors, by The Doors. Funded by the band and helmed by friend and fellow film graduate Paul Ferrara, the footage shot for this film would become the well from which the majority of future documentaries and music videos about the band would draw. This film became Feast of Friends, as Ferrara thought it was a great lyric to use for the title. Other than a few appearances in film festivals the following year, an official release would never be seen.

If not for a poor quality bootleg copy circulated among collectors and eventually via the Internet, the film’s existence would have scarcely been known beyond the circle of die  Doors fans. By many accounts, the original source of that bootleg is thought to have been Morrison’s own copy, which he hand-carried when he moved to Paris in 1971 after recording what would be The Doors’ final album. Concealed in a paper bag and forgotten at a friend’s house, Morrison would never reclaim it, as he passed suddenly a few days later.

Feast of Friends offers a cinematic look at The Doors on the road during their summer 1968 tour. While never completed, as the production funding was abruptly cut due to the band’s political problems stemming from Jim’s arrest in Miami, the film provides a stylistic approach in true 60’s cinéma vérité style.

The film is comprised of concert performances which are inter cut with fly-on-the-wall footage of the group in their natural habitat - playful, sensitive, chaotic and touching. Other than a few appearances in film festivals in 1968, this is the first official release. Completely restored from the original negative, as supervised by Morrison, the film has been color-corrected and mastered in high definition with the soundtrack totally remixed and remastered by long-time Doors co-producer/engineer Bruce Botnick.

As well as the full version of Feast of Friends, the release contains several important bonus features. The first is Feast of Friends: Encore. A newly produced feature using footage shot for the production, Encore is a complimentary piece that provides a deeper look into the life of the band during this period as they tour, record, travel and even vacation together.

Encore showcases the band’s recording process as the group record one of their biggest hits, “Wild Child.” Viewers will follow the band as they break from touring to sight see, play poker in their hotel room and witness an unedited interaction with Jim and the Minister at Large who attempts to determine “just what the hell it is (they’re) doing.”

Fans will also see a newly unearthed solo backstage performance by a singing Robby Krieger, a poem by Jim Morrison (while, in the background, you can hear Ray Manzarek’s piano work on “Love Street”), a never-before-seen altercation with legendary photographer Richard Avedon, a tranquil scene of Jim and his friends at peace in the cool waters of the Kern River, and much more.

Also included is The Doors Are Open – A British TV documentary originally aired on December 17th, 1968, focused around the band’s performance at London’s Roundhouse, which took place just days after the completion of filming for Feast of Friends. Interspersed with the band’s music are intense scenes from the Vietnam War, political leaders, and riots back in the States. The Doors Are Open highlights the political relevance of The Doors’ opinionated lyrics and iconic sound while giving context to the tumultuous times in which they were living.

Feast of Friends paints a chaotic yet gentle picture of the humanistic side of The Doors seldom captured by anyone. At one moment Morrison is fighting off legions of ravenous fans while at the same time taunting them to keep pressing on.

These films represent the most requested visuals from The Doors via fan polls worldwide, finally presented together in stunning style; Feast of Friends is an historical piece of 60’s film making that presents, yet again, the group in the forefront of music icons. A must-see for sure.

CLOSING NOTES --- Todd Rundgren’s second night tonight at B. B. King’s. Wonder if he'll perform “Black Maria” from his classic Something/Anything album. Details Wednesday …

Adam Lambert showed his fangs while transforming into the Wolf Man while attending his 2014 Halloween Bash at Bootsy Bellows on Friday in Hollywood.

The 32-year-old multi-hyphenate was joined at the party by Kelly Osbourne and other celeb guests. Howl at the Moon! On my way to the party!! Adam wrote on Instagram earlier in the day …

Finally caught Gone Girl yesterday. What a lugubrious waste of time. I just didn't care for it at all. Honestly, my respect for director David Fincher fell a notch or two. Even Ben Affleck, whose work I have always admired, especially his The Town, was saddled with a totally silly script and Rosamund Pike’s character was not to be believed. The only slightly redeeming performance was by, of all people, Tyler Perry. Two hours I will never get back. If you haven't yet seen this one, stay away … save your money …

Taylor Swift

SWIFT’S SHAKE --- The music industry went into seismic shock yesterday when Taylor Swift (during a highly anticipated Yahoo! live stream) unveiled her new single “Shake It Off” and news about her forthcoming album, 1989. Per the artist, the album is her first real pop record and the single is a spot-on rendering of a true, blue pop single.

At an record industry mixer of sorts last night, the assembled multitude pondered the impact of her new sound. PR-pasha David Salidor, remarked that the new single, as well as the video for the song (released yesterday as well) reminded him of nothing more than an artist he worked with in the late-80's … Debbie Gibson.

He said the video was something of a direct steal from Gibson's own “We Could Be Together" video. He went onto to say that the essence of the record was great and a more-pop vehicle was bound to happen. “With the amazing success she’s enjoyed, and having established herself as a multi-faceted artist, this latest development doesn't surprise me at all; I'm just surprised it took so long.”

The album, Swift announced, was inspired by the late 80’s pop she has been listening too. Swift went on to describe the 80’s as “a time of limitless potential, a time of bright colors, bold chances, and rebellion. Perhaps not coincidentally, Swift was born in 1989.

"Shake It Off" is a perfect pop song. "I never miss a beat," Swift sings in the second verse, and it's an appropriate way to describe the song. Her voice sounds better than it ever has, and with Max Martin and Shellback's production skills behind her, Swift has crafted a song that's unrelentingly catchy and upbeat.

"Shake It Off" does sound different from the songs on her previous album Red. There's a more pronounced beat, and the acoustic guitar sounds of Swift's early years are completely eradicated. But "Shake It Off" mostly sounds like a cleaner version of the work Max Martin did on Red. The catchy, pop beat of "Shake It Off" isn't really all that different from the one used on "I Knew You Were Trouble." The difference, and the problem for long-time Swift fans, is that the personal anecdotes and stories are gone.

Swift told the world that the song was about "The idea that people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction." She then gave two options for how a person could respond to those people talking: "Let it make you bitter, or shake it off."

LONG ISLAND ROCKS --- Though Billy Joel isn't officially part of the gala, his core band from the 70’s and 80’s – including drummer Liberty DeVitto, who twice sued Joel over royalties, and the late Doug Stegmeyer, his longtime bassist and backing vocalist – is set to be inducted at the biennial gala scheduled for Oct. 23 at The Paramount in Huntington, according to sources close to the event.

Joel told Long Island’s Newsday through his spokeswoman (Claire Mecuri) that he will not be able to attend the event because he will be out of the country that night.

Also set for induction this year are music moguls Clive Davis, whose remarkable record label career has been instrumental in the careers of superstars ranging from Joel to Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys, and Ron Delsener, the canny-concert promoter who has handled music’s biggest shows for decades and brought rock and roll concerts to Jones Beach.

Broadway legend Patti LuPone and record-setting singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson will also be inducted.

MAD MEN CLUES --- There are still seven more episodes of Mad Men left before AMC bids goodbye to Don Draper, Roger Sterling and whatever the advertising agency is called now following yet another merger. The first half of the series' final season ended on a satisfying note, with Draper and Sterling surviving a power struggle and Bert Cooper closing out the May 2014 finale with a song-and-dance number. However, series creator Matthew Weiner is already preparing himself for negative feedback when Mad Men's series finale arrives in Spring 2015.

"The road has been paved for a mixed review, no matter what. I do what I've always done on the show and rely on the people around me. The actors, the writers, and my wife all liked it, so that’s all I can go on at this point. I hate to say this — obviously ending the entire series is significantly more pressure — but it’s been that way every year," Weiner told the Wall Street Journal.

"I never knew if the show was coming back for most of the series, so we treated every episode 13 like it was the end. It’s very bittersweet and high-pressure."

Fan conspiracy theories have Mad Men ending with everything from a Charlie Manson-like massacre to the series going dark at the strike of midnight on New Year's Eve 1970. While Weiner didn't offer up any clues on how it all ends, he did reveal that he's spoken with people involved with a pair of much anticipated series finales, perhaps for some insight. "The people at Breaking Bad, Lost, everybody told us this, too, 'what a safety net it is to not be off the air yet'," continued Weiner. "We all know that, whatever splitting the season meant, the true ending of the show hasn't happened yet."

While we're still months away from Mad Men's conclusion, the show itself finished filming earlier this summer. Weiner admitted that one prop he took home was Roger Sterling's bar. “Roger’s bar is the happiest bar on the show, so I always thought that would be nice,” he said. One thing we do know about the series' final episodes: Sally Draper will not go to Woodstock.

BRICK HOUSE --- Eagle Rock will release Thick As A Brick - Live In Iceland by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson on 2 CD, DVD, SD Blu-ray and digital formats. This is the first time Thick As A Brick and Thick As A Brick 2: Whatever Happened To Gerald Bostock? have been offered in a combined set, resulting in a superb presentation of the complete story of Gerald Bostock.

Jethro Tull’s famed concept album Thick As A Brick was originally released in 1972 and featured one continuous track spread across two sides of an LP telling the story of a young boy named Gerald Bostock. 40 years later in 2012, Jethro Tull’s founder and leader Ian Anderson continued the story, with the creation of Thick As A Brick 2: Whatever Happened To Gerald Bostock? Following this release, Anderson took both albums on the road to present the complete narrative live. This show, filmed in Iceland, brings Gerald’s tale to life as never before and creates the definitive presentation of Thick As A Brick.

Ian Anderson recently released the very successful solo album Homo Erraticus, and is currently on tour across Europe from June to September (full details at

Underlining not only Anderson’s importance as a songsmith, Thick As A Brick – Live In Iceland also showcases this consummate live performer.

CLOSING NOTES ---  When hot-headed Alec Baldwin has been been dealing with the police , he needs to issue a press release even when he's not involved in a dispute.

The actor released a statement this week, following an arrest an at his apartment building in New York's Greenwich Village.

“In recent history, when the cops are called to 28 East 10th Street, you could likely guess it’s about one particular person,” said Baldwin.

But this time it was Baldwin's neighbor Jaime McKeown, 56, who was arrested on charges of allegedly hitting another tenant with a frying pan in a noise dispute.

Baldwin's housekeeper and personal assistant witnessed the dispute as they were taking an elevator down from his apartment.

The doors opened on the fifth floor, where they saw the alleged assault taking place.

According to cops, McKeown allegedly beat and dragged the unidentified neighbor, who was then taken to the hospital.

McKeon allegedly struck the victim on her head with a metal frying pan, causing her to fall to the floor, lose consciousness and suffer great swelling and substantial pain.

Baldwin says other people in the building say the two tenants were fighting about noise in the victim's apartment.

“As a prosecutor would say, he was lying in wait, crouched down,” Baldwin said. “And then he allegedly cracks the woman with a frying pan. What is that? He waited for her to show up and — Bam!”

Baldwin described the victim as a quiet and shy person who is nothing but a lovely woman and McKeown as wound very tight (something Baldwin knows a bit about).

McKeown was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Baldwin added that he thinks it might be best that his building install security cameras in case a similar incident happens again.

The actor's building, Devonshire House, has been the backdrop of many of Baldwin's dramas - notably when he got into a fight with paparazzi who wanted to snap wife Hilaria with their new baby last year.

Hey, how about this as a new Fall-TV Show: Alec Baldwin, D.A.?

Taylor Swift

Ed Sheeran And Alana Galloway

Ed Sheeran opened for Taylor Swift, performing for over 13,000 screaming fans at New Jersey's Prudential Center. The 22-year-old British sensation brought his 'A Game' to the concert. He opened with 'Give Me Love' and proceeded to sing several other songs including 'A Team', 'Drunk', and 'Lego House'. Ed Sheeran and his guitar captivated the crowd of shrieking fans. Sheeran and Swift performed Taylor's hit duet 'Everything Has Changed' up close to the audience. We were grateful to meet Ed. He's very sincere, humble and has a great sense of humor.

After seeing the concert, I can honestly say I understand why Taylor's Red album has sold 1 million copies. Having witnessed Swift in concert before, I can say that she has grown tremendously as a performer. She spared nothing and satisfied the audience song after song with style and grace. Whether playing a 6-string or 12-string guitar, a banjo, piano or drum, Taylor managed to make performing look easy. There were many touches of red: red glittery shoes, microphones, guitars, a piano, stool and a lot of red wardrobe items. Her show was filled with non-stop theatrics complete with dancers, elaborate costumes, lighting and set design, with many animations. She sang hit after hit including: Red, Holy Ground, All Too Well, I Knew You Were Trouble, Love Story,You Belong to Me, We are Never Getting Back Together and others impeccably. This show is a must-see; don't miss it. They will be touring the USA for 6 months.
