SONJA TREMONT-MORGAN'S TASTY RECIPE

Sonja Tremont-Morgan

Microwave cooking has long been a staple in college cuisine, but co-eds aren’t the only ones who need a quick way to serve up something satisfying. Real Housewives of New York City star Sonja Tremont-Morgan lives a hectic life as a housewife, single mother, philanthropist and fashion contributor to Star Magazine, and turns to her trusty toaster oven to keep her family full and happy.

Fans got a taste of Tremont-Morgan’s toaster oven cooking at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City, where she demonstrated her mastery of the convenient kitchen appliance. The demonstration, which took place in the Macy’s Cellar Kitchen, gave attendees the chance to see the toaster oven skills Tremont-Morgan mentioned on the show, sample delicious bites and take home recipes to recreate in their own kitchens. After the demonstration, Tremont-Morgan stuck around to meet fans, answer toaster oven cooking questions and sign autographs.

For those like 30 Rock’s Liz Lemon, who cannot wait for Tremont-Morgan’s toaster oven cookbook to be published later this year, here is one of Sonja’s favorite comfort food recipes to tide you over.

Toaster Oven Mac n Cheese With Truffle Oil

Ingredients:

1 Box of elbow macaroni

Salt to taste

1 Can of evaporated milk, or carton of half and half

2 Cups shredded cheddar cheese

Pepper to taste

Cubed ham to taste

Truffle oil to taste

Directions: Boil macaroni in a pot of lightly salted water until cooked al dente. Use a strainer spoon to scoop a small amount of macaroni into the bottom of four to six ramekins. Pour a small amount of half and half or condensed milk over macaroni. Add salt, pepper and cubed ham to taste. Sprinkle a layer of cheese on top of macaroni, and then add a mound-shaped second layer of macaroni, dividing remaining pasta between ramekins. Top macaroni with remaining cheese and add more half and half or condensed milk around macaroni and cheese until liquid almost reaches top third of ramekin. Bake in toaster oven at 350 degrees until top begins to brown and bubble. Top with truffle oil and serve.
