Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent this week visiting a souvenir shop, a colonial neighborhood and the Panama Canal. One resident yelled, "Are you Brad Pitt?" The actor smiled and said: "Sometimes," according to the newspaper Panama America. Besides touring the capital, where they shopped for souvenirs and walked around a colonial neighborhood, Pitt and Jolie on Thursday visited a former U.S. military base and the construction site of Panama's new Biodiversity Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, at the entrance of the canal in the Amador district. The newspaper said Pitt, who has a love of architecture, and Jolie were considering investing in the $56 million project and buying land in Panama. Paul McCartney Police were called to the country estate of former Beatle Paul McCartney after his estranged wife reported the theft of paintings -- including a Picasso and a Renoir -- from the lodge they once shared, police said Friday. "We checked the premises, and spoke to Heather Mills and as a result it was found to be a civil matter between her and her husband," Sussex Police spokesman Paddy Rea said. "There's been no theft." Mills called police Thursday night after discovering that paintings valued at an estimated $19.5 million was missing, the Sun newspaper reported Friday. The Sun, quoting a friend of Heather Mills McCartney, said that McCartney had taken the paintings and reprogrammed the estate's alarm codes, and informed her Thursday night by text message. McCartney and his wife announced their separation in May after four years of marriage and began divorce proceedings in July. They have a three-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

But they were all forced to flee the hotel when a storm caused a tree to come crashing into the back of the building, near a water heater.The two-storey wooden inn is then said to have caught fire at around 2.30am on Wednesday. Karen Gann, spokeswoman for the Inverness Fire Dept, told People magazine: "It was during a very high windstorm and a tree came down. "The cause of the actual fire has not been determined at this point, but it totally destroyed the lodge." Daniel DeLong, a chef and co-owner of the lodge, which is popular with Hollywood stars, said: "Jake was helping me pull things out of the fire." Eight people are thought to have been staying on the upper floor of the lodge, with several others occupying surrounding cabins. However, only the lodge burnt down and no one was hurt.

The couple separated in February, and is seeking joint custody of their three children, according to a judgment for dissolution of their marriage filed in court, Reports the Chicago Tribune.The document states the couple agreed to a marital settlement that addresses property and debt division, and all parental issues for their three teenage children.The Tribune reports that "the Jordan's asked the court to excuse them from attending a required parenting education program class, citing their status as public figures, which 'would be a disruption to the class, as well as create publicity concerning the parties' personal and private issues,' according to a court document." Michael Jordan, 43, became part owner of the Charlotte Bobcats earlier this year. He retired twice from the Chicago Bulls. Jordan served with the Washington Wizards, first as team president, then as a player, before he left the team in 2003. He now resides in Chicago, according to the court record.

Saddam HusseinIraq braced itself for the execution of Saddam Hussein last night amid reports that the former Iraqi president could be hanged as early as this morning. The Associated Press on Friday evening quoted a senior Iraqi official saying Mr Hussein could go to the gallows on Saturday morning. Other reports said Nouri al-Maliki, the Iraqi prime minister, was consulting with US officials to see whether Mr Hussein should be executed before the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which runs from this weekend to January 6. Meanwhile, lawyers for Mr Hussein asked a US federal court to restrain the US military from handing Mr Hussein over to the Iraqi government. It was unclear whether the court would grant a restraining order, or whether the court even had the authority to block any transfer. An appeals court this week rejected an appeal to commute the death sentence Mr Hussein received for ordering the murder of scores of Shia villagers in the 1980s. A judge for the Iraqi appeals court was quoted as saying Mr Hussein would be put to death by today at the latest. Last night, Feisal Istrabadi, a senior Iraqi official at the United Nations, said the situation remained in “flux”. responding to the legal claim filed by Mr Hussein’s lawyers in the US, he added that Iraq has had legal custody of Mr Hussein for two years. “Nothing and nobody can abrogate the ruling [to execute Mr Hussein],” Nouri al-Maliki, Iraqi prime minister, said in comments released by his office. “Our respect for human rights requires us to execute him, and there will be no review or delay in carrying out the sentence.”

"He is now fully coherent, and I have cleared him to resume his duties as governor." Schwarzenegger will remain hospitalized for three days, and his full recovery will take about eight weeks, the surgeon said. The California governor's second inauguration is set for Jan. 5th.

Violet, who turned one on December 1, was baptised on Christmas Eve at the United Methodist Christ Church, in Charleston, close to where Garner grew up.According to reports, Violet shared her big day with her cousin Alex who was baptized the same day at the church, at which Garner's parents, sister and brother-in-law are regulars. Pastor Randy Flanagan confirmed the ceremony took place during mass and was witnessed by ordinary members of the congregation. Since becoming a father Affleck has made no secret of his love of parenthood.The 34-year-old actor admits his family is the most important thing in his life now and he is willing to focus less on his career for the good of his wife and baby daughter. Uma Thurman has broken her wrist. The 'Kill Bill' actress fractured her lower arm on the set of her latest movie, 'The Accidental Husband', late last week. According to an on-set source, Uma, 36, snapped her wrist when "she was jumping to reach something and fell on her hand". She initially didn't realise she had broken it but after going to bed she woke up the next day to find it was considerably swollen. After going to hospital Uma had to undergo surgery to repair the damage. Shooting on the movie, which also stars Colin Firth and Isabella Rossellini,will be delayed for a week while Uma's broken wrist heals. She is believed to be currently recovering at her New York home with her two children Maya, eight, and four-year-old Roan.

Angelina Jolie spent Christmas Day visiting refugees in Costa Rica.The 'Tomb Raider' actress jetted into the country on Monday to begin a visit as part of her work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. As she met with a number of refugees, Angelina took the opportunity to speakout about the growing problems in the country. It is estimated that there are around 11,500 refugees in Costa Rica, most of who arrived after fleeing Colombia to escape the conflict between leftist guerrillas, soldiers and paramilitary forces. Angelina, whose lover is Brad Pitt, said: "The conflict in Colombia is the greatest humanitarian tragedy in the Western Hemisphere, but it receives very little international attention."My Christmas message to Colombian refugees and to the millions of displaced people in Colombia is that the world has not totally forgotten them."

Snoop Dogg has called for a world gun amnesty.The rapper - who was arrested in October for possession of drugs and a firearm - wishes the planet could be free of guns so no more lives could be unnecessarily cut short.He said: "I would like everyone to be able to put down their guns. Guns are not good. When I was growing up I knew my life could be taken in a second by a gun."In October, Snoop was stopped by police for a traffic violation at the Bob Hope Airport, in Burbank. An unlicensed gun and marijuana were found during a search of his vehicle.The rapper was charged with possession of a firearm and transportation of a controlled substance and released on $35,000 bail. In November, Snoop handed himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest over a separate charge of possession of a deadly weapon. He was charged and bail set at $150,000.The rapper had been stopped at the John Wayne Airport, in Santa Ana, on September 27 after a 20-inch extendable baton was found in his bag. Snoop claimed he did not know it was illegal and was going to use it in his video. The baton was confiscated and the rapper was allowed to board his San Francisco flight.
