Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent this week visiting a souvenir shop, a colonial neighborhood and the Panama Canal. One resident yelled, "Are you Brad Pitt?" The actor smiled and said: "Sometimes," according to the newspaper Panama America. Besides touring the capital, where they shopped for souvenirs and walked around a colonial neighborhood, Pitt and Jolie on Thursday visited a former U.S. military base and the construction site of Panama's new Biodiversity Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, at the entrance of the canal in the Amador district. The newspaper said Pitt, who has a love of architecture, and Jolie were considering investing in the $56 million project and buying land in Panama. American President George W. Bush and Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger have led tributes to the late soul legend James Brown. Brown died in an Atlanta hospital, in Georgia, on Christmas Day from heart failure after being admitted with pneumonia. He was 73. News of his passing was met with shock across the world. Bush described the self-styled 'Godfather of Soul' as an "American original", adding: "His fans came from all walks of life and backgrounds. James Brown's family and friends are in our thoughts this Christmas."Jagger, who was a huge fan of the legendary singer, insisted his death was a"huge loss" to music. As well as receiving tributes from his more famous admirers, many fans paid tribute to Brown by placing candles on his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or laying flowers at his statue in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Stephanie has bone cancer that recently spread to her lungs and is due to undergo surgery on January 8. Kevin was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in November and is receiving chemotherapy treatment. Violet, who turned one on December 1, was baptised on Christmas Eve at the United Methodist Christ Church, in Charleston, close to where Garner grew up.According to reports, Violet shared her big day with her cousin Alex who was baptized the same day at the church, at which Garner's parents, sister and brother-in-law are regulars. Pastor Randy Flanagan confirmed the ceremony took place during mass and was witnessed by ordinary members of the congregation. Since becoming a father Affleck has made no secret of his love of parenthood.The 34-year-old actor admits his family is the most important thing in his life now and he is willing to focus less on his career for the good of his wife and baby daughter. Uma Thurman has broken her wrist. The 'Kill Bill' actress fractured her lower arm on the set of her latest movie, 'The Accidental Husband', late last week. According to an on-set source, Uma, 36, snapped her wrist when "she was jumping to reach something and fell on her hand". She initially didn't realise she had broken it but after going to bed she woke up the next day to find it was considerably swollen. After going to hospital Uma had to undergo surgery to repair the damage. Shooting on the movie, which also stars Colin Firth and Isabella Rossellini,will be delayed for a week while Uma's broken wrist heals. She is believed to be currently recovering at her New York home with her two children Maya, eight, and four-year-old Roan.

ANGELINA JOLIE'S CHRISTMAS VISIT

Angelina Jolie spent Christmas Day visiting refugees in Costa Rica.The 'Tomb Raider' actress jetted into the country on Monday to begin a visit as part of her work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. As she met with a number of refugees, Angelina took the opportunity to speakout about the growing problems in the country. It is estimated that there are around 11,500 refugees in Costa Rica, most of who arrived after fleeing Colombia to escape the conflict between leftist guerrillas, soldiers and paramilitary forces. Angelina, whose lover is Brad Pitt, said: "The conflict in Colombia is the greatest humanitarian tragedy in the Western Hemisphere, but it receives very little international attention."My Christmas message to Colombian refugees and to the millions of displaced people in Colombia is that the world has not totally forgotten them."

Snoop Dogg has called for a world gun amnesty.The rapper - who was arrested in October for possession of drugs and a firearm - wishes the planet could be free of guns so no more lives could be unnecessarily cut short.He said: "I would like everyone to be able to put down their guns. Guns are not good. When I was growing up I knew my life could be taken in a second by a gun."In October, Snoop was stopped by police for a traffic violation at the Bob Hope Airport, in Burbank. An unlicensed gun and marijuana were found during a search of his vehicle.The rapper was charged with possession of a firearm and transportation of a controlled substance and released on $35,000 bail. In November, Snoop handed himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest over a separate charge of possession of a deadly weapon. He was charged and bail set at $150,000.The rapper had been stopped at the John Wayne Airport, in Santa Ana, on September 27 after a 20-inch extendable baton was found in his bag. Snoop claimed he did not know it was illegal and was going to use it in his video. The baton was confiscated and the rapper was allowed to board his San Francisco flight.
