MICHAEL JACKSON MOVIE IS A SMASHING HIT

Image
**** MICHAEL JACKSON WRITER MARK BEGO REVIEWS NEW SMASH BIO-PIC **** Mark Bego Judging by the hordes of people waiting in line for over six hours in Tucson to get the first glimpse of Michael Jackson's posthumous big screen concert film debut, he has achieved a lifelong dream, and now has a hit movie to his credit. "This Is It," with its international two-weeks-only big screen run, has accomplished what "The Wiz" failed to do three decades ago. As the world's first non-concert concert film, "This Is It" also accomplishes--as a rehearsal documentary--what many big budget rock & roll do not. With the universal impression of "What a great concert experience would have made," viewing "The King of Pop" take his Cracker Jack cast and crew through grueling sound checks and repetitive run-through's, makes for the musical movie event of the year, if not the decade, or of all time. Although it is bittersweet to watch, knowing th...

KATHY POSNER REMEMBERS JOHN DREYFUS

Image
**** A FERRARI AND A FRIEND BRING SADNESS TO PLANET POSNER **** Kathy Posner On March 27th of this year I wrote a blog called “Jack Dreyfus Dies at 95.” It was the most personal of any blog I have written. To read again, it can be accessed by going to my blog. Go to the blog archive area, click on March and then click on the Dreyfus posting. It will help in understanding this blog, to read that one first. It is now only seven months later as I write this blog about the death of Jack’s son John at age 67 of a sudden heart attack. John was the first real love of my life, and besides my family, the last person who knew me as a young woman. Now that John has died, it is finally time for me to grow up.There are so many stories I would like to share about John and his bigger than life existence, but I have chosen one that explains John’s incredible generosity. John and I lived together on and off for 17 years from 1970-1987. For the past 22 years since then we have been friends. In fact, I wa...

MICKY DOLENZ WILL ROCKERS ON BROADWAY

Image
Micky Dolenz Monkee-Micky Dolenz hits New York this week and next for a special appearance at the Rockers On Broadway event, set for Monday, November 2 at B.B. Kings. The event will be hosted By Cousin Brucie-himself Bruce Morrow (now on Sirius/XM Radio); who was a station mate of Dolenz’s when he hosted his ‘Micky In The Morning Show’ on the original CBS FM. As stalwart fans will recall, six months to the day of his first show (while Dolenz and his band were on stage at B.B. King’s) the then-powers -that -be at the station abruptly switched formats … to the so-called JACK-format … which quickly died a slow death. Photos of Dolenz and Morrow appeared on the cover of the next day’s New York Post. Also appearing will be Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Gene Cornish and Eddie Brigatti (in only their second stage appearance together since 1970) from The Rascals; Late Night- band leader Paul Shaffer … so hot right now with his terrific memoir We’ll Be Here For The Rest of our Lives; an...

ROBERT PATTINSON ON COOL JAMES DEAN

Image
Robert Pattinson Hollywood star Robert Pattinson based his cool "Twilight" character on movie legend James Dean. Pattinson shot to stardom when he took on the role of heart-throb vampire Edward Cullen in the hit movie. Pattinson did a lot of research before he started shooting the film, and is admitting he used Dean's performance in "Rebel Without A Cause" as the basis for his character. He tells USA Weekend magazine, "'Rebel Without A Cause' was a big influence on the first ('Twilight' film) - it influenced the hairdo and stuff. In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: an everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump." Photo By: Sara De Boer/Retna

NEW BOOK SAY'S DAVID BOWIE USED A WITCH

Image
David Bowie A white witch allegedly helped cure Rock icon David Bowie of his drug-fuelled paranoia, according to a new book about the star. Writer Mark Spitz spent years talking to the legend, as well as Bowie's family and friends, in a bid to explode the myths about "Let's Dance" in his new tome, "Bowie." And Spitz is revealing how the rocker called on magic to help him get through a terrifying part of his life. In the book, Spitz writes, "While planning the follow-up to 'Young Americans' (album), Bowie would sit in the house with a pile of high-quality cocaine atop the glass coffee table, a sketch pad and a stack of books. 'Psychic Self Defense' was his favorite. Its author describes the book as a 'safeguard for protecting yourself against paranormal malevolence.' "Using this and more arcane books on witchcraft, white magic and its malevolent counterpart, black magic, as rough guides to his own rapidly fragmenting psyche,...
