STYLE & FASHION IN THE HAMPTON'S
UNCF New York's yearly campaign of giving is off to a great start as they raised more than $200,000 at the 7th annual UNCF "A Mind Is…" Hamptons Summer benefit, held August 18-19. Former HBCU president Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole and media titan Edward Lewis were honored for being trailblazers of education and voices of the unheard. Dr. Cole reminded attendees during the weekend affair that “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.”

Master of ceremonies Don Lemon from CNN and Dr. Michael L. Lomax, UNCF's president and CEO, kept the program lively with their contagious energy and led the fundraising charge with a special appeal, raising nearly $15,000 from guests in attendance. Close to 200 guests attended the celebratory weekend, including celebrity stylist Ty Hunter and actor Sarunas Jackson of the HBO hit series “Insecure.” Many participants left feeling inspired and ready to champion for education and the important work UNCF work UNCF does to help deserving students get to and through college.
