Metropolitan Magazine and 25A Magazine’s Publisher Chase Backer hosted a party to celebrate Author & Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff, on the cover of Metropolitan Magazine and 25A Magazine’s April 2017 issues. The invitation-only event, honoring the Cinco De Mayo celebration of Mexican and American culture, took place at Selina Rosa Restaurant the other night.

In the April 2017 issues of Metropolitan Magazine and 25A Magazine, Jean Shafiroff opens up about her humanitarian efforts for various organizations that she supports, and explains her practical and often glamorous approach to fundraising. “I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re here for a reason”, says Shafiroff in an exclusive interview that focuses on her inspiring career as a philanthropist. “We have to do what we can to improve the lives of future generations. We have to be socially aware and we have to do something to enact change.”



The Upper East Side’s Selina Rosa Restaurant offered an intimate ambiance and a vibrant setting - perfect for the party’s Cinco De Mayo theme.

Jean Shafiroff, philanthropist, humanitarian, and author of Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give, is considered to be at the vanguard of a new movement of modern philanthropists. Recently Jean became an Ambassador for the American Humane Society. Widely recognized for her philanthropic work, Jean has been recognized and featured in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Gotham Magazine, The New York Times, New York Social Diary, Avenue, Hamptons Magazine, and The Huffington Post, among others.



Jean holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and a BS in physical therapy from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
