NEW YORK, NY – On the heels of her animal rescue mission in Nicaragua, Celebrity Philanthropist and Author Jean Shafiroff, hosted a special talk for her new book Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give, at Barnes & Noble in New York City. Jean shared with the audience how to get started in charitable work, without writing a big check. Using examples from her own life, Jean provided a roadmap on giving back by explaining that everyone has something to give, no matter how small. Attendees listened intently as Shafiroff revealed her own path, and shared details from her latest charitable effort to help abused and abandoned animals in Nicaragua.



“More often than not, people want to give back to those in need but don’t know where exactly to start,” said Jean Shafiroff. “I’ve created a guidebook that lays out the tools they need to begin the most fulfilling job anyone can do, which is to help the less fortunate. At my book signing, I was able to connect with my guests and delve into the need to know information that I’ve learned in my philanthropic work.”



SE Advisors CEO and US Campaign Director for the Margaret Thatcher Scholarship Trust at Oxford University Scott Elkins, wrote the forward to the Jean’s book and was on hand to lead the Q&A. Georgina Bloomberg, who was not at the event, wrote the introduction to Successful Philanthropy.



Jean’s message at the talk and in the book is simple. She is encouraging everyone get involved in giving back, and showing that it doesn’t take much. A big question of the night was about starting a charity. Jean Shafiroff who chairs seven charities, reveled the enormous undertaking involved. With over one million charities in the U.S. and many overlapping efforts, Jean expressed a need for consolidation.



Following the discussion, eager guests lined up to have Shafiroff sign copies her new book.
