Robin Williams Suicide At Age 63

Robin Williams today at 63. While his publicist wouldn’t confirm that it was a suicide, they did issue this statement. “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

Marin County Coronor’s office issued a statement, the Sheriff’s office suspects the death to be “suicide due to asphyxia.” The 9-1-1 phone call came in just before noon today.

This is very sad. Robin Williams was one of the first stars I photographed. I remember that day so clearly. I was on the side streets of Lincoln Center when Robin came walking down the street. He was smiling, laughing and made jokes. He asked what pose would we like and did everything we asked. As he walked down the street, he waved and you felt like you met a class act and a friend. 

For many years I would be asked on TV interviews who was one of the best to photograph and I always mentioned how nice Robin was. Any event that Robin attended, he was always on top of his game, class, dignity and treated you with respect.  This is a very sad day, Robin Williams was a huge talent who made us laugh for many years. Rest in peace Robin!
