LANCE BASS OUT OF THE CLOSET WITH LARRY KING

Larry King With Lance Bass

Lance Bass, the former boy band sensation, opened up to Larry King on the hit online show "Larry King Now" about his relationship with NSYNC today, the trials of hiding his sexuality, & his dreams of making a country album. Plus, Lance on his documentary, “Mississippi: I Am,” and his plans to televise his wedding on E!

Lance Bass told Larry King on the online-only show "Larry King Now" that he's sure the members of NSYNC questioned if he was gay, but they never asked outright:

“I’m sure they questioned it, but it never was a topic of conversation.”

"What is it like to hide something every day of your life?" asked Larry King.

"It’s tiring, Larry, very tiring," said Lance. "When you’re younger, you wake up every day praying to God 'please change me please change me,' then you accept this won't change this won't change. And then once you start feeling better about yourself and meeting other gay people, then you’re like, wow, I actually like myself this way. So it’s crazy the evolution that you go through as a kid to an adult in being gay.”

"Did you have secret affairs?" asked Larry King.

"There were definitely secret relationships," Lance responded. "My first three boyfriends were all just a secret to me and then my little inner circle. My family didn’t know."

"Did you come out to NSYNC?" Larry asked.

"I came out to members of NSYNC a little later on when I was about twenty-five years old," Lance said, adding: "They were fine. They don’t care at all."

Later on in the interview, Lance commented on homophobia in the South: "We were always told respect your elders, respect your elders. I think that’s why it’s such a slow change in the South is because we respect our elders so much that you don’t want to try to teach them a new lesson of acceptance."

Larry King asked if Lance still kept in touch with the members of NSYNC.

"We have this group text that all five of us are on that we’ve had for a few years now, and at least once a week we’re always texting funny things to each other," Lance explained.

Lance Bass then explained his wedding plans to Larry King, which involves filming televised version of the actual event, plus the days of planning leading up to the special day, for E!.

“The wedding will be next year, around February. We’re going to air the special around Valentine’s Day," Lance Bass said. "I’m producing this one so I’m going to film it and it will show the days leading up to it…because the thing is, we’re still two guys getting married, and two guys, it’s really hard to plan a wedding, so there’s a lot of humor coming out of this because we have no idea what we’re doing."

Larry then asked if Lance and his fiance, Michael Turchin, had plans to adopt kids.

"I want to. I want to have my own also," answered Bass. "We’re definitely family people...so we’ll have one of mine, one of his. And then probably when they’re a little older, I would love to adopt a kid that is a little bit older."
