GOTHAM UPDATE --- Composer Frederik Wiedmann (Beware The Batman, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox) has just been inked to compose the music for the upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie Son Of Batman. Additionally, the film Field of Lost Shoes, featuring music by Wiedmann, is showing in select markets.

“This installment of Batman was an interesting one, musically speaking,” said Wiedmann. “In addition to the action-packed epic score, there are a large number of very emotional moments, filled with darkness. We recorded a wonderful 30-piece orchestra in Los Angeles, as well as a few very unique soloists and exotic percussion. It is a very thematic score.”

The world is turned upside down when Batman – one of the world’s greatest Super Heroes – discovers he is a father in the newest DC Universe Original Animated Movie, Son Of Batman.

Batman learns he has a son, Damian – and to further complicate matters, the mother is Talia al Ghul, daughter of one of his most dreaded enemies, Ra’s al Ghul. When the odds quickly turn against Batman and Damian, Batman must become both father and mentor to the aggressive and agile new Robin. Together they form an uneasy alliance to try and thwart the criminal enterprise of Deathstroke and his army of ninja man-bats, before there are international consequences.

Also, in one of the biggest drama deals this season, after a bidding war, Fox TV has landed Gotham, from The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, with a series commitment. For Gotham, Warner Bros TV is mining one of DC Comics’ most popular character universes, Batman.

It explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City infamous. In Gotham, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman, who is not yet scheduled to part of the series.

The Gordon character was introduced in 1939 in the very first Batman comic. Originally created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Commissioner Gordon has appeared in comic books as well as Batman films and series, including in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, where he was played by Gary Oldman (our favorite!). Along with the Superman franchise, the Batman universe is probably the most prized DC property.

While Superman spawned the long-running series Smallville, this is the first series featuring a character from the world of Batman in a very long time as the network had been exploring a Gotham City-set show for more than a year.

It is the second high-profile comic-con drama in the works for next season, along with Flash at the CW. In addition to Gotham, Heller has the Mars drama Red at the CW. Gotham joins CBS’ sci-fi drama Extant as the two hottest drama projects this season.

HANNIBAL TV --- Speaking of the new series Gotham, the TV-version of Hannibal (based on the terrific and legendary Thomas Harris canon), the TV-series wraps up its second season in a matter of weeks … and, they have yet to reveal Hannibal as the Cannibal …. or, as the villain.

If you don't know, these last two seasons of the show (starring the brilliant Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen) has portrayed Hannibal as helping the police. In fact, the last episode had Dancy character (Will Graham) being released from jail … as the Hannibal-character had framed him for a series of gruesome murders.

Though the show is just stand-out brilliant (developed and mostly written from the always visionary-Bryan Fuller) the ratings have not been good and the show is very near being canceled altogether.

Fuller (Pushing Daisies) has without a doubt the most distinctive and interesting show on TV right now. It should be given another season. Stay tuned!

LAMBERT MAN --- The current group of American Idol finalists have spoken out about past contestants and who they considered to be their favorite.

Unsurprisingly the most popular among the final six of this season was the vocal powerhouse that is Adam Lambert, who as we know was the runner-up on the show a few years ago.

Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston, Sam Woolf, Jessica Meuse, CJ Harris, and Jena Irene are the current group of finalists on the hit Fox series and all chose Adam as their biggest inspiration.

Caleb Johnson explained that he was left incredibly inspired after watching Lambert on Idol a few years ago and it seems that he loved his glam rock performances almost as much as we did.

Johnson said: “I mean Adam Lambert just kind of just blew the roof off the show and just kind of and just really carved his own path, you know, from the show and what not and he was just an incredible singer, performer.”

He continued: “I mean that’s a rock star right there, both he and Chris Daughtry are two of the biggest stars to come off this show.”

Alex Preston also named the For Your Entertainment singer as a favorite from the show: “I was always into Adam Lambert. Me and my parents used to watch it all the time religiously and we always loved him.”

Meanwhile Lambert, who as we know is hard at work on his new studio album, also found time once again to send out some praise.

This time his shout out went to British singer-songwriter Lily Allen who recently unveiled the new video for her new track (and title of her album) “Sheezus.”

Adam tweeted the singer and said: “Wow. Speak your mind @lilyallen! Sick video!” He later added: “Just watched again…This is the sickest video I've seen in a min.”

CLOSING NOTES --- Congrats to Seth Meyers who will host the 2014 Emmy's-the 66th edition. His show is just great and this is totally well-deserved. Said NBC, “Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmy's.” …

Barry Gibb and his wife Linda bought the house and property that Johnny Cash and June Carter called home for over forty years in Hendersonville, TN.

The couple bought the house in January 2006 and planned to renovate the structure before moving in; however, a spark ignited a preservative being used by workman in April 2007 and the building burned to the ground.

The Gibbs originally talked of rebuilding on the property, using the original foundation, but nothing came of the plans and, on March 18, they sold the land.

Overall, the Gibbs took a $300,000 loss on the property...

"Jolene," written by no less than Dolly Parton has become the song du jour for so many. It was used on NBC's Blacklist earlier this year as a song for, well, a character named Jolene. Dayme recorded a rock-version of the song last year, and, American Idol contestant Jessica Meuse used it just the other night. It has been said ... it's one of the best songs ever!
