I’m a fairly die hard patron of dance and I caught one of the most diverse and captivating nights of dance I’ve ever experienced last night thanks to Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance At The Music Center at downtown LA’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. 

Alvin Ailey has remained one of my favorite dance companies for years. It's a holiday ritual of mine to attend their annual Christmas Day performance in NYC and last night only cemented my partiality. Mr Ailey began his journey in LA yet is iconically NYC so last night's opening was magical.

Each performance contains different programs of dance yet all end with their renowned ‘Revelations” – which I must admit didn’t stay for as I’m “Revelationed out”. If you haven’t seen it, it’s amazing. But I’ve seen it. A lot. However, last night's first two movements were beyond expectation. 1999’s “Grace” and “Minus 16” were unforgettable.

The company is only in LA thru this weekend but their US tour continues through the end of May before returning to NYC for it’s Lincoln Center engagement in June. If you're gonna' be anywhere they are, put it in your calendar and go!
