Bethenny Frankel

The cover story from the new issue of Us Weekly has all of the details on Bethenny Frankel’s split from Jason Hoppy. After nearly three years, the outspoken reality star turned head of the Skinnygirl company, 42, and Hoppy, a pharmaceutical sales exec, 41, are calling it quits. “There was no final straw. No one cheated,” says a Frankel friend. “Their marriage just wasn’t working.” At issue: everything from her massive financial success to his close-knit family. Adds the friend, “They really tried, but they grew apart. She is very upset.”

From the start, there was tension. Soon after the wedding, they were bickering like an old married couple. He made passive aggressive comments about her wearing the pants in their relationship: “My balls [were] cut off two years ago,” he quipped in 2012. And she complained about his “nitpicking” and moodiness. “I’m walking on eggshells at home,” she once confessed on camera. Like most married couples, however, their biggest blowups were all about the Benjamins. “Gender roles are a big thing with us,” Hoppy, who also deals in real estate, admitted on Bethenny Ever After. “And as a man, I never thought I’d be in a situation where my wife, financially, was this successful.” With Frankel always footing the bill, “Jason felt emasculated,” says a source close to the couple. Laments a Frankel confidant, “He’s not particularly ambitious, and Bethenny is very driven.”

They didn’t see eye to eye on how to f ix their problems either. A devotee of therapy, Frankel complained that her husband refused to seek help as their marriage unraveled. She griped, “He thinks everybody can work it out for themselves.” But in the end, the problems were insurmountable. “Bethenny fought really hard for her family,” says the friend. However, the split may have a silver lining. “She’s very smart. She will spin this into gold,” says another Frankel pal. “Her talk show will now be of interest to single moms and single women.”

HOT STUFF

Jermaine Dupri

Janet Jackson: Springtime Wedding!

What has Janet Jackson’s boyfriend done for her lately? A source tells Hot Stuff that Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana “gave her a huge, expensive ring” earlier this year. “She’s afraid it will get lost, so she keeps it locked up!” The luxury-brand mogul, 37, will spare no expense on his nuptials to Miss Jackson, set for spring in Qatar. The affair “will cost millions,” reveals a second Jackson insider. “He is flying in all of Janet’s friends and family on private jets.” (Quick refresher: The L.A.-based singer has seven siblings and more than 20 nieces and nephews.) Adds the source, “He wants to get a top chef to create a custom menu.” The twice-wed Nutrisystem spokeswoman, 46 – who split from Jermaine Dupri in 2009 – is eager to make it official with her love of two years. “She wants kids,” says the Jackson source. “If she can’t have them, she will adopt.”

Beyonce & Jay-Z Make Nice

 Beyonce

Only Beyonce and Jay-Z can upstage Santa Claus. A source tells Hot Stuff the power duo, who live in NYC’s Tribeca neighborhood, “got everyone in their apartment building boxes of chocolates and a card – signed by both of them!” The insider adds the pop diva, 31, and rapper, 43, wanted to give the residents (including Bethenny Frankel!) something personal for the holidays: “They know their presence makes things a little crazy.”

Lea’s Spending Limit

Lea Michele

Lea Michele won’t be getting everything on her list this year. A source tells Hot Stuff that Cory Monteith, 30, set a spending limit for their holiday presents to each other - $2,000! – and the actress, 26, was “pouty about it at first.” But Monteith told her “the only gifts that he ever saved were the ones that had thoughts behind them,” continues a pal. And it wasn’t long before the Glee starlet changed her tune. “She told him she’d blow his mind for $2,000. She thought of it as a challenge!”
