We want to wish everyone a safe and a Happy New Years Eve. We know it has been a very rough year for most people. The economy is still in the hole even know they are telling us we are recovering. The banks and the credit card companies have ripped us all off and they continue to get away with it. The rich are getting richer and the middle class is now almost non-existent. We should all have some very good New Years resolutions. Below are a few of mine.

I will continue to try and shop American. Shopping for American products saves American jobs. Most of the time they do cost more, but in the long run you end up saving. Saving American jobs.

I will continue to stop doing business with the banks and credit card companies that have ripped us off so bad. If you are scared to cancel a credit card, just pay it off and do not use it. By you not using it, they do not make money. These banks and credit card companies need to learn a lesson. We do not want to do business with crooks, and that is what most of these companies are.

Tell your members of Congress no more bailouts for any of these companies. If they fail, other businesses will start up and really appreciate your business.

Tell your cell phone companies and all the other companies that you do not want to do business with them if they fire Americans and hire workers from other countries. I am so tired of calling Sprint and getting someone in India. And while we are at it, tell your state representative to outlaw these service contracts. It is not fair that if you deal with a company like Sprint and are un-happy with the service, that you have to pay a penalty because you no longer want to do business with them. Suppose every store you shopped in had this deal. Besides, there are new cell phone companies like Metro PCS that are almost half the price for un-limited talk and text.

Do business with small businesses. I could go to every celebrity hair salon in New York City, but I get my hair done at the local barber shop. They know their customers and appreciate your business. When you shop in your neighborhood, you support your community, you support where you live, you support yourself.

Life is too short. It seems like yesterday that I was dancing in Studio 54. Look up a old friend and say hello. If you have had fights with people in the past, and you know that they really are a good person, call them up. Do what I do. Call them and ask them if they learned their lesson yet. Most of the time they will crack up and you will become friends once again. Every few weeks, I look up someone from the past and say hello. It will make you feel good and it's the right thing to do. I look at my mother. She still has friends from kindergarten and she stills hangs out with them. There is something to being friends with people that you have known forever. It is very comforting.

I am also going to try to become more understanding. I get very aggravated with people these days. The person on the bus and everywhere else talking loud on their cell phone. The tourists in Times Square that seem to be walking backwards. The nasty clerk in the store. This will probably be the hardest thing for me. I do not know if I can do this, but I'm going to try.

Start speaking up if you see something wrong or something that is not right. Injustice really gets my goat. This is one thing I do not have to correct. I am always speaking up for what is right and I wish more people would too.

I am sure there are many many more things to add to this list. I would love for all our readers to leave comments on what their goals are. Just click below.

Have a very Happy New Year!

Reality show star Kim Kardashian is involved in a legal battle with a diet cookie manufacturer, after reportedly branding its sweet weight loss treats "unhealthy." Kim kicked off the fight with bosses at Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet Company, accusing them of falsely claiming she was endorsing their brand. CEO Matthew Siegal, son of the celebrity doctor behind the weight loss program, countered by filing his own lawsuit in Miami Dade County, Florida, yesterday morning, after discovering the actress used her blog to claim Dr Siegal's cookies are unhealthy. Siegal claims Kardashian had "commercial motive" for the attack because she is a spokesperson for a rival weight loss program QuickTrim. He tells "We received a letter a week ago asking us to remove a link to a news story (that we did not write) on our Web site that implied she was using and endorsing our product. And although we did this we discovered that more than a month before she had made her comments on Twitter claiming our product was 'unhealthy' while somebody also leaked a letter from her lawyers to our company to a celebrity Web site."

The custody fight between Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, over their 1-year-old son, Tripp, is playing out in court, despite Bristol Palin's efforts to keep the case confidential, a judge last week opened it for the public to see. Palin filed a petition for full legal and physical custody November 4th. She had argued that she and her family already provided almost all of the care and asserted that "Levi is not yet mature enough to take on significant parental responsibilities." Johnston is claiming that he wants to share custody of his son and do what he can for Tripp, and Bristol Palin. Johnston fought to allow the custody matter to unfold in public, saying in a sworn statement that doing so would help put everyone on their best behavior.

Scarlett Johansson

Sexy Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson is planning to ring in the New Year on the couch at home, because she's "so over" partying on New Year's Eve. She tells OK! magazine, "We're both working on New Year's Day anyway. So, we won't do much. You know, pizza would be nice, a little champagne. Maybe watch the 'Twilight Zone' marathon. At the ripe old age of 25. "I have the most fun when I'm surrounded by people I love in one place that's comfortable and we can hear each other. You can play card games, watch movies - I'm happy."

Marilyn Manson

The keyboardist who sued gender bender Marilyn Manson for more than $20 million is taking away with $380,000 after the fighting rock stars settled in court. Lip stick wearing Marilyn reached a settlement with Stephen Bier, also known by stage names Madonna Wayne Gacy and Pogo, on December 11th, following a two-year battle in the courts. The $20 million suit, which Bier filed in 2007, accused Manson of breach of contract, alleging the star used money from their former band partnership to buy personal goods including gifts for his ex-wife Dita Von Teese. Manson claimed the band's partnership was dissolved in 1996, but Bier, who left the group in 2007, was still adamant he should still be entitled to a share of revenue. The former friends came to a stalemate, and Manson promptly took to the Internet to dismiss rumors he gave in to Bier's demands. According to the Associated Press, Bier is still receiving a substantial $380,000 payout, but Manson won't pay it directly. Manson's insurance company will hand over $175,000, while Bier's former business managers will pay the remainder.

Tiger Woods

The rumors are flying out of Florida that Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel are back together again. The golf star's former mistress was confronted by the news media yesterday and was not very happy. Tiger Woods has not been seen publicly since before his Thanksgiving Day car crash outside his Florida home. But last night, there were reports that Woods stepped out over the weekend in the rich and famous winter hangout Palm Beach with his alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel. The ABC affiliate in Palm Beach caught up with Uchitel Tuesday and asked her about the rumors. Uchitel came out of a $2-million Palm Beach house late Tuesday afternoon. At first, Uchitel didn't want to talk when approached by a reporter. "The rumors are that you were with Tiger over the weekend here in Palm Beach. Anything to that?" asked the reporter. "Can you get out of my face, if you don't mind?" Uchitel responded. Television show "Entertainment Tonight" reported that Uchitel and Woods were seen holding hands over the weekend at the private Everglades Club in a Palm Beach, and at a private party with 300 guests. Uchitel would neither confirm nor deny the rumors. "I don't have any comment, I'm not going to have any comment and so I have to live my life and I would appreciate you guys not being on my property and not bothering me while I'm trying to be here," said Uchitel. "We're just trying to get one comment from you about Tiger because, you know, there's rumors spreading that he was here with you, but no one's really seen you with him, so that's why we're just trying to clear it up," said the reporter. "I know. I have absolutely no comment," said Uchitel. Stay Tuned!

According to British reports the comic proposed during Perry's trip to his native Britain last week. A source says, "He asked her to marry him last week and she quickly said yes. Todd Spinelli With Frank Ottaviani And Kathy Carvajal

We stopped by Fox 5 New York studios very early yesterday morning to meet some great guys from Long Island where I grew up. Being back at the old studios where I used to appear on A Current Affair and Good Day New York many years ago was a real excitement and it was so wonderful meeting Fox 5 web producer and host Kathy Carvajal. It was also exciting meeting Frank Ottaviani, President of United Treatment Centers and Todd Spinelli, Vice President of UTRM. Together these guys have created a great new product called Aquafree, a waterless toothbrush. You may wonder, why would I need a product like this and the answer to your question is Travel. For all of us that travel and have to deal with the things you are and are not allowed to bring on the plane, this is one approved product. It is compact and all you do is brush and the job is done. For anyone that eats out at restaurants and goes clubbing and just about anywhere, this is one product that is a must have. Any regular readers of Times Square Gossip know how picky we are about even talking about a product. I make the publicity people send a case over and I have to try it with my friends before I will even think about doing a story. But this is one very convenient way to always be fresh and ready to go. Interesting too that they were telling me that they plan marketing for future versions of the Aquafree toothbrush to the very large Third World countries challenged in providing sanitary water to their populations. This could be a life saver in these countries where disease runs rampant in the water supply. Think of the applications in hospitals, in the outdoor recreation industry and military organizations. The possibilities are endless. To learn more about the Aquafree Toothbrush, visit their website by clicking here. It is amazing the things we learn from the Fox 5 Good Day New York webshow. Any Kathy Carvajal is not only a beautiful host, this gal really knows the web to bring her viewers the most interesting guests. We learned a lot on our visit to our old stomping grounds and we are going to watch Kathy's show on a regular basis.

Rupert Murdoch

The deadline between Fox Television and Time Warner Cable is close, and is likely to cause similar battles between other big networks and big cable operators, with local television affiliates owned by third party companies possibly caught in the middle. Fox Television is threatening to pull its stations off of Time Warner systems if its retransmission demands for its own local broadcast stations are not met. Both parties are appealing to the consumers with advertisements, to win them over. Fox is rumored to be asking for about $1 per subscriber. That figure is said to be about what the going rate is for basic cable’s TNT Network, a price it commands with a much smaller viewer base – and is far below the large fee given to ESPN, which is said to be around $4 per household. The New York Times reports that Fox is also interested in sharing in retransmission fees collected by its local affiliates, and notes that CBS for one is actively supporting Fox as both an owner and operator of television stations and owner and operator of a network.

Editors Extra: I could care about the Fox cable channels, they really suck big time. But Fox 5 and UPN 9 are in New York and New Jersey and are broadcast stations. We love these stations as I am sure most New Yorkers do. We have a right to view them. If the stations did not send out such weak signals, we would not need cable to get them. Rupert Murdoch is planning to charge for everything next year. The New York Post online and every other online entity he has. It is bad enough Rupert got waivers to have two television stations and 2 newspapers in the same area. This used to be against FCC rules, but the the king of the worldwide media got waivers. We can understand him charging for customers in another state for his content, but the people of New York and New Jersey have a right to the programing. Why should we pay for something that is our right to have. I like Rupert, I have met him many times over the years, but he needs to rethink this idea. At least give us our right. But hey, I'm on RCN Cable and i'll still get The Simpson's and Family Guy!

Taylor Lautner

Singing star Taylor Swift and sexy talented actor Taylor Lautner have broken up, and were never all that serious in the first place, according to People. "It was never a big deal to begin with. The media made way more out of it than it is," a source close to Swift said. "They went out on a few dates and realized this was just not going anywhere." Another Taylor source corroborated that sentiment, adding that the fact the two rising stars lived nearly a continent apart was a big factor in the low-key breakup. "They became good friends and then went out a few times, but he lives in L.A. and she lives in Nashville and their busy schedules kept it from becoming more than it was," the source told the magazine.

We thought this was very interesting. We received a e-mail today from someone that claimed to steal the New Years Eve Ball. It said," We "borrowed" the NYC Ball easy to "borrow" it again. ... maybe Thursday night? It was signed - anarchymonkey. There was a link to you tube. It looks pretty good. They are running to a elevator, using a security pass to get to the roof. They are filmed taking off a panel on the famed ball. They show the computers with a outline of the ball. But it looks different. It looks like they filmed the old ball. But who knows, it was very well done. Anyway we know that Time Square is getting a new ball this year for the New Years Eve celebration, and we know it's high above one Times Square. Reports are saying it's twice the size of last years. The sphere is 12 feet and weighs 11,900 lbs. It has 672 LED modules attached to it's frame. It's has 2,668 Waterford Crystal triangles covering the sphere on all sides. It has an aluminum frame and has the ability to show 16 million types of colors. It is supposed to save 20 percent more energy than last year's ball. The best part of the ball is the "Let there be Courage" design emblazoned on 288 of the Waterford Crystals. Now a little history of the famed Times Square Ball.

Revelers began celebrating New Year's Eve in Times Square as early as 1904, but it was in 1907 that the New Year's Eve Ball made its maiden descent from the flagpole atop One Times Square. The first New Year's Eve Ball, made of iron and wood and adorned with one hundred 25-watt light bulbs, was 5 feet in diameter and weighed 700 pounds. It was built by a young immigrant metalworker named Jacob Starr, and for most of the twentieth century the company he founded, sign maker Artkraft Strauss, was responsible for lowering the ball. As part of the 1907-1908 festivities, waiters in the fabled "lobster palaces" and other deluxe eateries in hotels surrounding Times Square were supplied with battery-powered top hats emblazoned with the numbers "1908" fashioned of tiny light bulbs. At the stroke of midnight, they all "flipped their lids" and the year on their foreheads lit up in conjunction with the numbers "1908" on the parapet of the Times Tower lighting up to signal the arrival of the new year. The Ball has been lowered every year since 1907, with the exceptions of 1942 and 1943, when the ceremony was suspended due to the wartime "dimout" of lights in New York City. Nevertheless, the crowds still gathered in Times Square in those years and greeted the New Year with a minute of silence followed by the ringing of chimes from sound trucks parked at the base of the tower - a harkening-back to the earlier celebrations at Trinity Church, where crowds would gather to "ring out the old, ring in the new." In 1920, a 400 pound ball made entirely of wrought iron replaced the original. In 1955, the iron ball was replaced with an aluminum ball weighing a mere 200 pounds. This aluminum Ball remained unchanged until the 1980s, when red light bulbs and the addition of a green stem converted the Ball into an apple for the "I Love New York" marketing campaign from 1981 until 1988. After seven years, the traditional glowing white Ball with white light bulbs and without the green stem returned to brightly light the sky above Times Square. In 1995, the Ball was upgraded with aluminum skin, rhinestones, strobes, and computer controls, but the aluminum ball was lowered for the last time in 1998. For Times Square 2000, the millennium celebration at the Crossroads of the World, the New Year's Eve Ball was completely redesigned by Waterford Crystal. The new crystal Ball combined the latest in technology with the most traditional of materials, reminding us of our past as we gazed into the future and the beginning of a new millenium. About "Time-Balls" The actual notion of a ball "dropping" to signal the passage of time dates back long before New Year's Eve was ever celebrated in Times Square. The first "time-ball" was installed atop England's Royal Observatory at Greenwich in 1833. This ball would drop at one o'clock every afternoon, allowing the captains of nearby ships to precisely set their chronometers (a vital navigational instrument). Around 150 public time-balls are believed to have been installed around the world after the success at Greenwich, though few survive and still work. The tradition is carried on today in places like the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, DC, where a time-ball descends from a flagpole at noon each day - and of course, once a year in Times Square, where it marks the stroke of midnight not for a few ships' captains, but for over one billion people watching worldwide.

The Times Square New Year's Eve Ball 2000-2007

The 2000-2007 version of the Times Square New Year's Eve Ball, designed by Waterford Crystal, made its first descent during the last minute of the 20th century, at the Times Square 2000 Celebration. The Ball was a geodesic sphere, six feet in diameter, and weighed approximately 1,070 pounds. It was covered with a total of 504 Waterford crystal triangles that varied in size and ranged in length from 4.75 inches to 5.75 inches per side. For the 2007 New Year's Eve celebration, 72 of the crystal triangles featured the new "Hope for Peace" design, consisting of three dove-like patterns symbolizing messengers of peace. The remaining 432 triangles featured Waterford designs from previous years, including the Hope for Fellowship, Hope for Wisdom, Hope for Unity, Hope for Courage, Hope for Healing, Hope for Abundance, and Star of Hope triangles. These crystal triangles were bolted to 168 translucent triangular lexan panels which were attached to the aluminum frame of the Ball. The exterior of the Ball was illuminated by 168 Philips Halogená Brilliant Crystal light bulbs, exclusively engineered for the New Year's Eve Ball to enhance the Waterford crystal. The interior of the Ball was illuminated by 432 Philips Light Bulbs (208 clear, 56 red, 56 blue, 56 green, and 56 yellow), and 96 high-intensity strobe lights, which together create bright bubbling bursts of color. The exterior of the Ball featured 90 rotating pyramid mirrors that reflect light back into the audience at Times Square. All 696 lights and 90 rotating pyramid mirrors were computer controlled, enabling the Ball to produce a state-of-the-art light show of eye-dazzling color patterns and a spectacular kaleidoscope effect atop One Times Square. The now-retired 2000-2007 New Year's Eve Ball is the property of the building owners of One Times Square.

Angelina Jolie

Good hearted Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt donated $100,000 to the American SOS Children's Villages, an alternative foster care organization with locations in the U.S. in Illinois and Florida. "We have seen firsthand the remarkable job SOS does to raised orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together," Jolie, 34, said in a statement. "No one "ages out" of an SOS Village. Vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and more support are there forever." According to People Magazine, Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children's Villages USA, thanked Brad And Angelina for their generosity and said they were longtime supporters of the organization. "We are deeply grateful that this year they have included in their generosity our villages in Illinois and Florida and our 300 children who call SOS 'home,' " she said in a statement. "In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them." SOS Children’s Villages is the largest nonprofit organization in the world solely dedicated to orphaned and abandoned children. There are 500 villages in 132 countries.

Yoko Ono

The roofs of New York City's yellow taxi cabs will be the next place to catch modern art works made by artists like Yoko Ono, Alex Katz, and Shirin Neshat. A Las Vegas Nevada company that sells advertising on cabs says it will display the art starting in January in place of the typical advertisements. As many as 500 cabs will display the pieces of art, a project that will cost about $100,000 in lost revenue. Each artist's work will appear on 160 cabs. The Art Production Fund of New York selected the artists to create works that will sit on the passenger cabins.
