NIECY NASH TALKS TO CLOSER ABOUT VERY HARD LIFE

Niecy Nash Niecy Nash may be one of the hardest-working women in show business with three TV shows on the air — The Soul Man, Getting On and The Mindy Project — but getting to where she is hasn’t been easy. “In 1985, I found my mother after she was shot by her boyfriend. In 1993, I buried my brother, and in 2006 I got divorced after 16 years,” Niecy tells Closer in an exclusive interview . Her mother survived, but after the shooting death of Niecy’s younger brother, she went into a deep depression. “When my brother was killed, my mother was in a severe depression, and one day before my 23rd birthday, I was at a loss and didn’t know what to do,” Niecy recalls to Closer. “What I did know was I had the ability to make my mother laugh.” And it worked. “She went from lying in the bed to sitting up in the bed. CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER RETURNS TO TV LAND

Cedric The Entertainer TV Land has renewed its sitcom “The Soul Man,” starring Cedric “The Entertainer” and Niecy Nash, for a fourth season, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land. The series, which also co-stars Wesley Jonathan, has been picked up for 12 episodes. Last season, “The Soul Man” premiered with a live episode and saw great guest stars like Brandy, Martin Lawrence, B.o.B., David Alan Grier, Deion Sanders, Yvette Nicole Brown, Cedric Yarbrough and TV Land’s own Betty White. The evening welcomed the cast including Clark Gregg, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Niecy Nash, Amanda Pete, Molly Shannon, Paul Sparks, Sam Rockwell and Saxon Sharbino to enjoy some favorable Sabra snacks at the after-party held at Hemingway's in Hollywood. The cast was intimate throughout the event and even joined together on the dance floor to show off their moves. TV LAND GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO THE SOUL MAN

Cedric The Entertainer And Niecy Nash TV Land has given the green light to a third season of “The Soul Man” starring Cedric “The Entertainer,” Niecy Nash and Wesley Jonathan, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land. The new season will premiere spring 2014. “We’re so proud to have this show in our portfolio of sitcoms,” said Jones. “Fans of ‘The Soul Man’ are the drivers behind the success of the series. Because of their passion, we are able to continuously bring new viewers to the channel.”  “The Soul Man” follows R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine (Cedric) after he relocated from Las Vegas to St. Louis with his wife Lolli (Nash).
