Katie Couric tackles captivating issues, unforgettable newsmaking headlines and fascinating famous faces -- it’s talk that matters when her nationally-syndicated talk show, “Katie,” premieres its second season on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2013.

“We’re so excited to head into Season Two,” said Executive Producer Rachel Miskowiec. “We are in a unique position to be a destination for people with a deeper story to tell, to be a place for smart conversation and to also have a good time. Katie is on top of what America is talking about, so we’ll give our viewers in-depth stories that will inform, inspire and entertain.”

On the premiere episode airing Monday, September 9, Katie’s friend and rapper, Lil Wayne, sits down for an exclusive conversation. Also, hear the heart-stopping stories and meet the courageous people behind recent news headlines.

During the first three weeks, Hollywood superstars Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer will get candid in an exclusive interview with Katie as they talk about working together on their latest film. Katie will also be joined by charismatic funnyman Billy Crystal, who will make a rare daytime television appearance to discuss his illustrious career and the Broadway revival of his autobiographical one-man show. Popular TV star Mariska Hargitay will speak about domestic violence and her passionate work with the Joyful Heart Foundation. Plus, Katie sits down for an exclusive interview with the cast of the film “The Prisoners,” starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. She will also welcome the always interesting and talented Julianne Moore, who will be discussing her passion for writing children’s books. Additional scheduled guests include Terrence Howard, Viola Davis, Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, CeeLo Green, Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Dianna Agron and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Captivating issues and newsmaking headlines will also be front and center in Season Two when Katie revisits one of the show’s most inspiring guests, 25-year-old Aimee Copeland, a Georgia graduate student who lost parts of all her limbs to a rare flesh-eating bacteria. It’s been a year of a rigorous recovery and learning how to use her prosthetics -- Aimee shares her story of strength and courage. Boston Marathon bombing victim Celeste Corcoran shares how she was inspired to get through her tough time. Piper Kerman, the real woman who inspired the series, “Orange Is The New Black,” speaks to Katie about what life was really like behind bars. And only on “Katie,” Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, the parents of Trayvon Martin, will join her in-studio for an honest and compelling discussion about the reality of race in America.

Social media will continue to play a prominent role in the program, with viewers invited to interact with Katie via Facebook (Facebook.com/KatieShow), Twitter (@katiecouric) and on her website (www.katiecouric.com), so they can be included in the daily conversation.
